Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Taylor’s family and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service during this incredibly difficult time.

Officer Taylor made the ultimate sacrifice while trying to save others. Your service, courage, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is mourning federal wildlife officer David Taylor, 38 of Scio, Oregon, who is believed to have died while helping evacuate residents threatened by the Railroad South Fire.

Officer Taylor was going door to door alongside local emergency crews helping families get to safety. His last contact with dispatch came while he was helping a family evacuate their home. Evidence recovered from a structure where he was working to help a resident escape indicates that he died during the evacuation effort. Formal identification remains pending with the medical examiner.

Everything we know about David's actions reflects extraordinary courage, selflessness and devotion to duty.

Our hearts are with his family, friends, fellow officers and all who served alongside him. We will never forget his service.

Kiowa County Task Force was activated today to assist Indiahoma in Comanche County with a big fire in the Holsey Acres area and Winding Oaks area east of Indiahoma. Firefighters from Roosevelt, Cooperton, Lone Wolf, Sedan, Hicks Mountain, Saddle Mountain, Snyder, Gotebo, and Kiowa County Emergency Manager Daniel Fantinel all responded for mutual aid and structure protection. We saw multiple other departments including BIA, an outfit from Southern Colorado, and planes all being utilized to get this fire under control.

Every donation is greatly appreciated!!! Thank you to those who have donated already. We appreciate everything our community gives to help us.

🔥🚒 Our firefighters need our support now more than ever.

With high temperatures and ongoing drought conditions, fires can burn longer, spread farther, and require firefighters to spend hours — sometimes even days — on the fireground.

These long-duration incidents take a toll. Staying hydrated, fueled, and comfortable is essential for the men and women working tirelessly to protect our communities. ❤️

If you’re looking for a way to support your local fire department, consider donating some of the items on our list — water and hydration drinks, non-perishable snacks, or other everyday essentials. You can also consider making a monetary donation so your department can purchase exactly what they need.

💧 Every bottle of water helps.
🥨 Every snack keeps firefighters fueled.
❤️ Every donation reminds them their community has their back.

We encourage anyone wanting to donate to contact their local fire department directly to find out what their exact needs are.

Let’s take care of those who spend long hours taking care of us. 🚒❤️

We assisted Saddle Mountain Fire Department yesterday (Wednesday) with a large grass fire along with Sedan, Cooperton, Gotebo, Aldon fire departments, as well as blades from 2 Kiowa County Districts and a dozer from a local landowner. We are in an extremely dry time and vegetation is overgrown and crispy. Please be careful and do your part to not start a fire. Pray for rain!
