Excellence in Education! Duchesne County School District is located in Eastern Utah AKA
"The Basin" between Vernal & Salt Lake.

Utah State legislature created
Duchesne County in 1914 from part of Wasatch County. The state's highest
mountain, King's Peak at 13,528 feet above sea level, is located in the
county's Uintah Mountains. Major streams running through the county include
the Strawberry, Duchesne, Lake Fork, and Yellowstone rivers. The High Uintas Primitive Area, situated in the northern portion of the county,
are dotted with some of the most beautiful alpine lakes anywhere in the West. The lakes are free of ice for only a few months of the year. The county's economy is based primarily on the livestock industry,
but the area is also rich in oil and natural gas. As in Uintah County to the east,
Duchesne's oil and natural gas extraction industries fluctuate according to
international oil and natural gas markets.

Roosevelt Junior High would like to invite DCSD and the community to a very special event that brings together our fine arts departments and community: Music for the Mind: Mental Health Awareness Concert & Art Show November 4th @ 7:00.

As you are well aware, mental health is incredibly important, and is something that affects all of us in different ways. It can often be hard to put into words the struggles, and emotions surrounding mental health, but that is where the arts can uniquely provide expression where words fail. Music and art gives us space to feel, reflect, and connect with one another. We hope for this to be a very meaningful and memorable event, and we would love for you to be a part of it! Whether you choose to perform on stage, share your artwork, or simply join us in the audience, your participation and support will make this evening very special.

Ways to participate:
- Sing in the choir!
- Play your instrument with the band or string orchestra
- Submit an art piece to be displayed
- Join us November 4th and enjoy the power of music and arts!

Google form link to participate: https://forms.gle/LrH57dxyZpVMvHcQA

Please reach out if you have any questions! We hope for this to be a wonderful and meaningful night and sincerely appreciate your support!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Duchesne County School District staff and students are focusing on sunlight in October.

Spending 30 minutes outside each day lowers stress, improves sleep, boosts heart health, and restores focus.

Elementary students received paper trackers to turn in at the end of the month. Secondary students and staff can track their sunlight digitally and email it to the address on the tracker. Participants will be entered into a drawing.
