Harvest time!🍅

The school-grown tomatoes at Bright Futures Academy at Beasley Elementary were picked last week during our final Nutrition Education class. Students were able to explore our tomatoes and learn how to start new plants with the very seeds inside.

This hydroponic system has been an incredible tool in teaching students about plant life cycle, how to care for crops and the nutritional value of fruits and veggies 🥭🥕🫛.

Today’s local produce spotlight!

We couldn’t wait to share a few photos from our Lamar CISD Campuses!

Today was a DOUBLE local-produce day! Our students enjoyed locally grown roasted butternut squash AND locally grown cucumbers right on their school lunch trays.

From Texas farms to our cafeterias, we’re proud to bring fresh, local flavors to our students while supporting the farmers who help make it possible.

Fresh. Local. Texas-grown.

Fall brings out some of the best Texas flavors! This week we are thrilled to offer all of our students locally-grown roasted butternut squash.
Did you know that one cup of raw butternut squash provides even more potassium than a medium banana!
