DID YOU KNOW? Rossville Fire Department's outdoor warning sirens are tested every Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.! Here's some great information from Chief Jason Stuart about the sirens, the testing schedule and what to do when you hear the siren.

WHAT THE SIRENS ARE FOR
Our outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert people who are OUTDOORS to tornadoes and dangerous weather. They may sound during a National Weather Service tornado warning or when an immediate weather threat is identified.

WEEKLY TEST
Sirens are tested every Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Audible tests are canceled when severe or inclement weather is present or possible.

IF YOU HEAR THE SIRENS (outside of a test)
Seek sturdy shelter immediately. Go to an interior room on the lowest level, away from windows and exterior walls, and monitor official updates.

DON'T RELY ON SIRENS ALONE
Sirens may not be heard indoors. Have at least two other ways to get alerts:

✅ NOAA Weather Radio
✅ Smartphone alerts
✅ Local TV and radio

And follow official weather sources on social media.

🇺🇸 25 Years Later — We Will Never Forget

Today, the Rossville Fire Department joins our nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We especially honor the 343 FDNY firefighters and all first responders who answered the call that day, many making the ultimate sacrifice. We also remember those who have lost their lives in the years since from illnesses related to their response and exposure following the attacks.

Twenty-five years later, their selfless service continues to inspire us.

We remember those we lost, honor those who served, and keep their families in our thoughts.

🚨🎨 2026 FIRE PREVENTION POSTER CONTEST! 🎨🚨

The contest is open to students in Kindergarten through 12th Grade, and we encourage students of all ages to get creative and help spread an important fire-safety message.

This year’s theme focuses on lithium-ion battery safety and three important steps:

🛒 BUY SAFELY – Purchase batteries, chargers, and devices from trusted manufacturers and retailers.

⚡ CHARGE SAFELY – Use the correct charger, avoid overcharging, and never charge devices on beds, couches, or other soft surfaces.

♻️ RECYCLE SAFELY – Never throw lithium-ion batteries in the regular trash. Take used or damaged batteries to an approved recycling or disposal location.

🎨 Students are encouraged to design a poster showing how we can Buy It Right, Charge It Right, and Recycle It Right!

📅 Posters should be turned in by September 15, 2026.

The Town of Rossville is proud to announce the launch of our Military Street Banner Program, an opportunity to honor and recognize the brave men and women from our community who are currently serving or have served in the United States Armed Forces. 🇺🇸
Sponsored by the Town of Rossville these special banners will be displayed along TN-194 between TN-57 and the railroad tracks during patriotic observances such as Veterans Day. Each two-sided banner will honor two Rossville veterans, allowing us to recognize even more local heroes.
If you’re interested in honoring a Rossville veteran, we invite you to learn more at: https://townofrossville.com/military-street-banner-program/

This Memorial Day, the Rossville Fire Department joins our community in remembering the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Because of their courage and sacrifice, we are able to enjoy the freedoms we have today. We also hold close the families who carry the weight of that sacrifice every day.

Today, and every day, we honor them, remember them, and thank them.

Tonight Rossville firefighters trained on pump operations and hose evolutions, sharpening the skills needed to deliver water quickly, safely, and effectively when seconds matter most.

We’re proud of the dedication and hard work our firefighters put in to stay ready to serve our community.
