Yesterday at 5:39 pm Round Lake and our day time mutual aid agencies were dispatched to a car into a building with a possible fire at Malta Commons. Arriving units found a single vehicle that crashed into a building with no fire. Fortunately no one was in the suite at that time and the driver was not injured from the crash. The crash is being investigated by the State Police. Town of Malta code enforcement was called and determined that the vehicle could be safely removed with fire units standing by until it was pulled out.

You need us, we need you! Volunteer fire departments need volunteers. The sad truth is that less than one percent of our residents volunteer. Last week members of the Round Lake Fire Department visited the students at the Chango Elementary School. Children in our fire protection area who are in the Ballston Spa School District were visited by the Ballston Spa Fire Department. We encourage you to talk with your children about what they learned, create an escape plan and have a fire drill in your home. Please message us with any fire prevention questions that you may have.

This evening while operating at a MVC, several vehicles attempted to go around a road closure. This reckless behavior needlessly endangers first responders and can interrupt rescue efforts. You want to get to your destination, we want to make it home to our families. Slow down and obey road closures.

Today representatives from the Round Lake Fire Department went to the Sutphen facility in Pennsylvania for the final inspection of the new ETA 541. The truck will go to the dealership in Ballston Lake for equipment mounting with an expected delivery later in October.
