🤖🏆 FIRST SCRIMMAGE. FIRST PLACE. THAT’S HOW HIPPOS DO IT! 🦛💜

Our Veterans’ Hill Robotics Team showed up and showed OUT at their very first scrimmage, bringing home 1ST PLACE! 🥇🎉

But what makes this victory so special isn’t just the trophy. It’s the STUDENTS behind it!

These incredible young minds have spent countless hours learning, building, testing, failing, adjusting, and trying again. They demonstrated what happens when creativity meets determination, when teamwork meets problem-solving, and when students BELIEVE in what they’re capable of accomplishing!

Today, they didn’t just win a scrimmage. They proved to themselves that they can do HARD things, that their ideas matter, and that they belong in spaces where innovation happens! 💜

A HUGE thank you to Ms. Singleton and Ms. Wilhelm, our amazing robotics coaches, for pouring into our students, challenging them to think bigger, and creating opportunities for them to shine. Your dedication is making a difference!

Our Veterans’ Hill Ballet Folklórico dancers didn’t just show up today… THEY SHOWED OUT! 🔥👏🏽

Today, our talented Hippos took the stage at Georgetown’s Día de los Mu***os Celebration, bringing with them so much more than beautiful dresses, incredible footwork, and contagious energy. They brought HISTORY. They brought CULTURE. They brought PRIDE. ❤️

Every step told a story. Every twirl celebrated a tradition. And every performance reminded us that our culture is not just something we learn about… it is something we LIVE, HONOR, and PASS ON. 🇲🇽

To our dancers: NEVER forget how powerful it is to stand proudly in who you are and where you come from. You are representing generations of tradition, and today, you made your entire Hippo family PROUD!

To the families and staff who pour their hearts into keeping these traditions alive, GRACIAS! ❤️

🦛💜 Our Hippo Store is taking off, and our students are CASHING IN! 💜🦛

Our Hippos have been working hard, earning rewards, and making their leadership shine! We love seeing our students turn their hard work into exciting opportunities!

🌟 A SPECIAL SHOUTOUT to TJ in 5th grade! 🌟

TJ cashed in his rewards to purchase the 🏆 Golden Compass Award, which gives students a behind-the-scenes look at a campus leadership role!

Today, TJ stepped into the role of Principal Urrutia’s assistant and got straight to work! He helped update our weekly attendance board and gave it a much-needed makeover. And let me tell you, it looks BRAND NEW! 👏🏽

This is what we LOVE about our Hippo Store! It’s not just about prizes. It’s about creating opportunities for our students to lead, take ownership, and see themselves as the leaders we know they can be.

Way to go, TJ! Thank you for helping make Veterans’ Hill an even better place! 💜

❤️ Wearing Red for Dyslexia Awareness! ❤️

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month, and today our VHE family wore red to show our support, spread awareness, and celebrate the unique strengths of individuals with dyslexia! ❤️

We want to give a special shoutout to our incredible dyslexia teacher, Ms. Valles! 🌟 Her dedication, patience, and passion for helping students grow as readers make such a difference on our campus. She reminds our students every day that learning looks different for everyone and that every child is capable of incredible things!

To celebrate, we treated our amazing teachers and staff to a little RED surprise with red-themed snacks and drinks! 🍓🍒❤️ It was a small way to spread awareness and show appreciation for the educators who work tirelessly to meet the needs of ALL learners.

At Veterans’ Hill Elementary, we believe that different does not mean less, and every student deserves to feel empowered, supported, and celebrated!
