Roxboro Rotary has had a busy few weeks!
We celebrated Lacy Winstead's memory when he was awarded the Order of the Longleaf Pine and had a w**e named after him at the Tunnel Creek Vinyards.

The RCS Interact Club has started up and will meet with us this Thursday.

Tommy Carver told us about his 40 years as a Rotarian and we celebrated his 80th birthday.

We participated in the Person County Litter Sweep, had a booth at the Personality Festival and started our annual Paper Drive sales.

Rotary supports 30+ non profits locally from the proceeds as well as scholarships and local community improvement projects.

Rotary Club of Roxboro will meet tomorrow at noon at La Piazza and kick off our 2026 Paper Drive. Our Club typically Raises between $35,000 and $40,000 of which 100% is donated to worthy causes around Person County as well as college scholarships.
A percentage is invested to grow and from time to time we give large amounts to Person County Causes. Recently we granted $125,000 to Person County for the Rotary Club of Roxboro Centennial Park which allowed Parks and Rec Department to leverage into over $600,000 in matching grants. Already over 6 miles of multi-use trails have been completed.

We interrupted our regular programming last week to have a social at "Pickin and Grinnin" at the Schley Grange.
The highlight of my night was stealing Tommy's wife Esther for a dance. Bayard got in some dancing too.

Our speaker today was Dr. Rodney Peterson Superintendent of Person County Schools.
He filled us in on the PCS construction and school bond etc.
Wifi wasn't working very well so I recorded his talk and will post it tomorrow....

Honor to be inducted as Rotary Club of Roxboro President for 2026-2027 at the District 7710 Installation Banquet tonight.
Looking forward to our club serving the Roxboro area this year and working with District Governor Patrick Gallagher and all of the other clubs in the district to "Roll up our sleeves" to "Create Lasting Impact".
