Collaboration is at the heart of YouthConnect’s work. Abigail Usherwood, MSW, our Data, Outcomes, and Evaluation Manager, reflects on what makes the team’s approach so meaningful: dedicated clinical social workers and services that are free, voluntary, and confidential.

That flexibility allows YouthConnect to meet Boston’s young people and families where they are and respond to each client’s unique needs.

Everyone deserves reliable access to the everyday essentials that support health, dignity, and confidence. During this Hygiene Insecurity Awareness Week, we’re highlighting Hope & Comfort and its work to make essential hygiene products more accessible across Massachusetts.

By bringing hygiene insecurity out of the shadows, we can build understanding, inspire action, and help more people show up fully at school, at work, and in daily life.

We’re sharing a resource that may be helpful to youth, families, and the professionals who support them.

Alice’s Kids provides financial assistance for one specific need of a child in grades K–12. Requests must be submitted by a professional who works directly with the child, and assistance is generally provided through a store-specific gift card or payment directly to a school, vendor, or service provider. The average grant is around $100.

Support may include clothing or shoes, school supplies, a basic cell phone, sports or extracurricular needs, and other specific personal items that can support a young person’s well-being, confidence, participation, or safety.

Please note that there are eligibility and request limitations, including one child per family and one specific item or need per request.

Learn more and find the request form on their website.
