Thank you to everyone who joined Ramey-Estep/Re-group for our Community Family Movie Night! 🍿🎬
From games, popcorn, and popsicles to laughter and quality family time, it was a wonderful evening bringing our community together. We believe strong families build strong communities, and we’re grateful to everyone who made the night so special.
At Ramey-Estep Treatment Foster Care, we know that building families takes a community. Events like these create opportunities for foster families, biological families, staff, and community members to connect, support one another, and strengthen the relationships that help children thrive.
Thank you for helping us build families through community. We can’t wait to see you at our next event! 💙

On Friday our staff celebrated Throwback Day for Foster Care Awareness Month! 📼💙

Childhood memories matter. Every child deserves moments filled with laughter, stability, encouragement, and people who help them feel safe and cared for. Foster care is about helping create those moments and supporting children through every stage of their journey.

🌈💙 Rainbow Day — Foster Care Awareness Month 💙🌈

Today our staff wore all the colors for Rainbow Day! 🌈💙

Foster care touches children and families from all walks of life, and every child’s story is unique. Today is about celebrating diversity, inclusion, and creating spaces where every child feels safe, accepted, and valued for exactly who they are.

Children in foster care in Kentucky represent every race, ethnicity, identity, and cultural background.

Similarly, foster families in Kentucky include single parents, married couples, LGBTQ+ caregivers, multigenerational households, and families from a wide range of cultural and faith traditions.

Every child deserves a home where they can show up as their full, authentic selves — and Kentucky’s foster families and support teams work every day to make that possible.

🌟 When we embrace every color of the rainbow, we create a brighter future for every child. 🌟

☀️💙 Future Is Bright Day — Foster Care Awareness Month 💙☀️
Today we wore bright colors to celebrate the hope, resilience, and bright futures of children and youth in foster care. Their journeys aren’t always easy, but with encouragement, stability, and strong community support, their futures can shine even brighter.
In Kentucky, many young people in foster care overcome significant challenges as they move toward adulthood and Kentucky's Independent Living program provides ongoing support for youth to continue to address these challenges past the age of 18! Independent Living programs can provide housing assistance, education and job training, life-skills coaching and case management for youth up to the age of 21!
Among former Kentucky foster youth surveyed at age 21, 63% reported having stable housing, 64% had secure employment, and 16% were enrolled in college or technical school.
These young people are working hard to build their futures, and consistent support from caring adults makes all the difference — whether through mentoring, stable foster homes, Independent Living programs, or community partnerships.
🌟 Every bright future starts with someone who believes in them. Thank you to everyone who shows up for Kentucky’s youth — today and every day. 🌟

Today our staff showed up as superheroes for Foster Care Awareness Month! 🦸💙

Their capes may be fun, but the real superpowers are compassion, consistency, and the courage to show up for Kentucky’s kids—every single day.

Children in foster care rely on everyday heroes: foster parents, caseworkers, teachers, therapists, advocates, and community partners who walk with them through uncertainty and help them feel safe, seen, and supported.

Thank you to our staff for being heroes in ways that truly matter. Your dedication brings hope, healing, and brighter futures to children and families across Kentucky.

In Kentucky, there is a significant gap in the number of children who need foster care placement and the number of foster homes available. This gap leads to children being placed farther from their home communities, increased placement in group care settings, and even a need for out-of-state placements!

If you’d like to explore more about being an everyday hero by supporting foster youth or becoming a foster parent, we can help you take the next step.

💙🩵In observance of Foster Care Awareness Month and International Family Day, we would like to recognize and celebrate the Ramey-Estep families who have grown their families through adoption in 2026!!

So far this year, we have celebrated FOUR adoptions within our foster care program; four children finding permanency, love and forever homes!! 🏠

Today we celebrate the foster families who opened their hearts and the children whose journey led them home. These moments remind us that foster care changes lives in the most meaningful ways.

🎉Congratulations to the Whitehead Family, the McClelland Family, the Perez Family, and the Ray Family on officially making it forever!🎉

💙🩵May is Foster Care Awareness Month!🩵💙

This month, we raise awareness for the more than 8,600 children in Kentucky currently in foster care and for every foster family opening their hearts and homes to children who need safety, love, and stability. Kentucky continues to face a critical need for foster parents, especially for sibling groups, teens, and children with higher needs.

Yesterday, our team walked to honor the resilience of children in care, the dedication of foster families, and the incredible people who advocate for them every single day. Foster Care Awareness Month is about more than awareness. It’s about showing children they are seen, valued, and never forgotten.

Love does hard things.

And sometimes, changing a child’s life starts with simply saying “yes” to helping.
