Below is a list of questions we ask all new employees to fill out so we and the community can get to know them better.

Help us welcome one of our new part time employees, Miguel Antonino!

1. What is your position at pope county EMS?
EMT-B

2. what made you interested in the medical field in general? or EMS rescue field? Or working at PCEMS in your specific role?
After graduating high school I realized that I didn't know what I wanted to do for a living, after bouncing around in different jobs I quickly found career fields that I did not enjoy no matter how well they may have paid I always felt a sense of unfulfillment. It wasn't until two years ago when I decided I wanted to try and pursue my childhood dream of becoming a paramedic and decided to get my EMT license and start working in the healthcare industry and I have not looked back ever since. There is no greater feeling than being a part of a team that can help people during their worst day and bring a sense of calm and assurance in a chaotic environment.

3. What is your favorite part about working at Pope county EMS?
The community that is present within the station as well as the community it serves. Everyone that works at Pope county EMS has their own story as to how they found themselves working in EMS whether it be because they came from long line of first responders, or simply because they wanted to make a difference to those around them.

4. what is one thing about your job that most people might not know about you or would find interesting/surprising?
A lot of EMT's and Paramedics are also registered nurses, firefighters, law enforcement, or even hold another job completely unrelated to medicine. When most people think of EMS they typically only see an EMT or paramedic not knowing that for most, this may be a second or third career change which also allows us to be better equipped to take on challenging emergencies.

5. What is something you would tell someone who is about to start their first shift or EMT/Paramedic school?
You are always a student. In EMS there are always new developments being made and discovered meaning that it's important on keeping up to date with your continuing education and always asking questions when you don't know or understand something.

6. What are your favorite hobbies outside of EMS?
I like to stay physically active and being outdoors, I enjoy running the trails, rock climbing, and spending time by the river on a kayak from time to time.

7. How has working at PCEMS changed you for the better?
The atmosphere working at the station is unlike most places I've worked at before. Everyone has been supportive and encouraging to me in my pursuit of further education and life goals and truly feels like a second family as opposed to just another job with a toxic work culture.

8. Which of the company's values resonate with you the most?
I believe that compassionate care is is crucial to important long term recovery for a person, you can be the most knowledgeable and capable EMT or Paramedic in the field but without compassionate care the treatment can feel like more like we're causing harm or injury.

9. Has working in EMS changed your outlook on life or the way you view things in general?
It has taught me to slow down and prioritize what's really important to me. In life there will always be problems to worry about but i'm just grateful I got to wake up this morning in a healthy and able body.

September 11, 2001 — We Remember. 🇺🇸

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the countless families, first responders, military members, and communities forever changed by that day.

We remember the courage of those who ran toward danger while others were running away. We remember the strength of those who endured unimaginable loss. And we remember the unity, compassion, and resilience that brought Americans together in the days that followed.

May we never forget the lives that were taken, the heroes who gave everything, and the families who continue to carry their loss.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Please help us by congratulating one of our newest paramedics, Brooke Chenowith!

Brooke has been with us since 2024. She has successfully completed the paramedic program at the University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College.

Earning this certification is a rigorous process with having to balance class, ER clinical’s, weekly tests, managing ride times, obtaining patient contacts, passing a national exam to obtain her license all while being a devoted wife and mother working full time as an EMT on B shift. Her hard work and dedication has paid off!!

We here at Pope County EMS are extremely proud of her accomplishments and look forward to watching her continue to grow as a provider and a member of our family.
