Testimony of Troy Craig
My name is Troy Craig , and this is my testimony of how God has brought me out of addiction and given me a chance to get my life back.
I was born in San Francisco, California, and raised there until I was 10 years old. My father was involved with the Hells Angels biker club, and my mother struggled with he**in addiction. At the age of seven, my father left my mother and me to be with the club. As my mother’s addiction worsened, she could no longer support us and turned to prostitution to support her addiction. I was placed into a kiddie p**n ring to help fund her habits. After three years of molestation and r**e, the situation was eventually broken up by the police, and I was adopted by a family in Portland, Oregon.
As I grew into adulthood, I developed my own struggles with he**in and alcohol. By the age of 28, I was a full-blown alcoholic and drug user, using he**in and methamphetamines. I tried to get clean through a secular recovery program but left after eight months of a twelve-month program.
Fast-forward to age 44. After losing my wife to prison for murder, I had reached a point where I was tired of drowning in drugs and alcohol. I knew I needed a change, and I decided to seek Jesus Christ through a faith-based program called Project Hope Texas. On August 23, 2024, I began my journey toward a new life.
Through Jesus Christ and the Project Hope recovery program, I found a foundation built on faith, grace, and restoration. I graduated after a year and temporarily worked for the program. Unfortunately, after a few months, I began letting go of my attitude and allowing personal issues to take control. I eventually walked away and returned home, only to fall back into my old ways.
After ten months of going back to my old life, I found myself down and out, living like a dog. I finally picked up the phone and reached out to Project Hope again. This time, they sent me to Project Hope Arkansas for a 6th month restoration program. I am hoping to find what I missed the first time around, letting go of the demons that have held me back, and ultimately get my life back.
I know that without Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, and the love and grace shown to me through Project Hope Recovery Centers, I would not have a solid foundation built on Christ. I am thankful for another opportunity to surrender my life to the Lord and continue the work of restoration.
I want to thank the staff at Project Hope Texas and Project Hope Arkansas for helping me get my life back. My story is not over, and I believe God is still working in me. Through His grace, I have hope for a new beginning and the opportunity to walk forward in faith, one day at a time
