Chief Watson recently had the opportunity to speak at the Century Next Bank Huddle Group, sharing how the Ruston Police Department utilizes advanced technology to protect and serve our community.

Chief Watson highlighted two critical tools helping our officers work smarter and faster:
🔹 License Plate Readers (LPRs)
LPRs act as a major force multiplier for law enforcement. To ensure community trust, we maintain strict privacy protocols:
• Data Privacy: Ruston PD completely owns the data and does not share it.
• Auto-Purge: All information is permanently deleted every 60 days.
• Strict Oversight: Officers must have a case number and documented reason before using the system, backed by a weekly compliance audit.

🔹 RPD Drone — Code Name: "Patsy"
Our drone program continues to expand and save lives! "Patsy" was recently instrumental in locating a disoriented crash victim. Additionally, its advanced thermal imaging features helped the Ruston Fire Department safely track down hidden hotspots during a recent woods fire.

Thank you to Century Next Bank for hosting us and allowing us to share how we are working every day to keep Ruston safe!

This is what community policing is all about. 💙✨

Today, Daxyn walked into the Ruston Police Department with a giant box of donuts and an even bigger heart. Daxyn wanted to make sure our officers knew they were appreciated, and he certainly succeeded!

Gestures like this mean the world to our officers and serve as a wonderful reminder of the amazing community we are sworn to protect.

Thank you, Daxyn and Ms. Carol, for your support and generosity. You made our day! 👮‍♂️👮‍♀️

We had an AMAZING time at National Night Out!

Thank you to everyone who came out, stopped by, talked with our officers, and helped make the night such a success.

Events like this are a great reminder that being part of law enforcement is also about building relationships and being part of the community we serve.

We loved seeing all the smiling faces, meeting new friends, and spending time with our community outside of the patrol car and office!

We'll see you at the next one!
