We installed our sign today at our sub station 2. It is complete and fully operational. We are super proud of it… We will have our ISO inspection in November by the Office of State Fire Marshal. Hopefully after the first of the year the home owners in that area that was not in the rated fire district will see their insurance premiums drop. We want thank ES Walker construction for seeing this project built.

Have to go up the holler for this weeks spot light, Mr. Jeff Jackson

What year did you join the fire service? 1986

What department did you first join? I join Greenhill Fire Department as Jr firemen. Was there for about 10 years till I got married and moved to Shingle Hollow. I have been with Shingle Hollow Fire Department for 26 years. 17 years served as Chief of Shingle Hollow.

What is one of the best memories you have working for the fire service? My best memories will always be the men and women that I have served with over the years. When i started there was so many of us that started about the same time as Jr Firemen. Tony Sullivan, Dwayne Craig, Jamie Howell, Phillip Burns, Benny Lovelace, Tommy Alley, 40 years later we are still serving.

If you could give advice, to a new firefighter, what would it be? Have the passion too serve your community. There is no better feeling than helping someone in a time of need.

Who inspired you the most in rc fire service. There are so many over the years that inspried me. Joey Ford, Bob Cook, Dolphus Hodge, Jim Howell, Gary Wilson, Billy Dalton, Tim Lovelace, Randy Hardin, Ray Ledford,Tommy Blanton, Mark Mccurry, Dennis Matheny, Ferrill Hamrick, Curtis Hodge, Chuck Watson and all the younger generation that come through Shingle Hollow that as went on to serve at career level.
