There's a new employee in the office. Lawson, Andrew Pope's Doberman, arrived with the proper credentials and an expression that suggests he's already identified several opportunities for improvement! 😁

Keeping our rights-of-way clear helps maintain reliable service, but it also gives us a front-row seat to Vermont's incredible wildlife. 📸🐾

This beautiful bobcat was spotted in the Weathersfield/Ascutney area and photographed by Utility Arborist Jon Kimball. Thanks for sharing this amazing moment, Jon!

🍂 We had the perfect fall weather for a spooktacular day at Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum’s Trunk or Treat! From the creative costumes to all the smiling faces, it was such a fun way to celebrate the season and connect with our local community.

A big thank-you to our VELCO volunteers, Tina, Dennis, Chris, and Mike, for helping make our VELCO trunk a success! We’re grateful for employees who take the time to show up and represent VELCO at events like these.

Wishing everyone a fun and festive spooky season! Have a great Halloween and stay safe while enjoying all the festivities! 🎃

Two days, one shared goal: investing in our people.

VELCO recently brought employees together for two days of learning, connection and growth. Our Safety Summit featured a keynote speaker and hands-on demonstrations, including fire extinguisher training, line crew pole-top rescue and drone demonstrations.

The following day, our Staff Development Day offered opportunities to explore topics like nutrition, work-life balance, retirement planning and more.

Of course, no great VELCO gathering is complete without delicious meals and this time a visit from the ice cream truck!

A huge thank-you to both planning teams for bringing these days to life, and to all the employees who participated and made them so meaningful. At the end of the day, investing in our people is one of the most important things we can do. Our people are our greatest asset, and we're better when we learn and grow together.

Join Vermont and New Hampshire Energy Education Program (VEEP and NHEEP) for an Open House this fall!

VEEP is excited to host an open house on Tuesday October 27! If you'd like to see the equipment we're bringing to schools, or ask us questions about our programs, or just generally wishing you could spend an afternoon turning cranks and playing with color changing cups, please come see us!

Tuesday October 27th
3-6pm
79 River Street, Suite 303 in Montpelier, VT

We'll have all our equipment out to play with, staff on hand to answer your questions, and some great snacks.

This is a great opportunity to get a teacher at your child's school to come see what we offer, or bring someone from your energy committee, or a local business (or a legislator!) you think should know about our work.
Please stop by, and bring a friend!

⚡Big news for Vermont's energy future!

VELCO's COO José Sebastiao and Public Relations Manager Shana Louiselle connected with GlobalFoundries' Dan Colello, VP and General Manager of Fab 9, at a recent event celebrating a major milestone: GlobalFoundries is bringing online 6 megawatts of solar generation and a 16-megawatt battery energy storage system as part of a long-term effort to manage energy costs and reduce demand on the regional grid.

It was exciting to be on site for this monumental milestone - a true testament to innovation, sustainability, and the value created in Vermont for Vermont.

🔙 Flashback Friday: These photos take us back to late winter/early spring 1958, when crews built a transmission line directly on the Sandbar — the natural underwater sandbar beneath what's now Route 2's causeway, running from Milton to South Hero.

This stretch is part of the St. Lawrence transmission circuit, carrying power from the New York State line across Lake Champlain to our Essex substation. The photos show a few of the 11 two-pole structures set right in the lake near the Sandbar - and you can almost feel the bitter cold wind coming off the water as crews worked through ice and winter conditions to get it built.

Over time, those poles took a beating from winter ice, and the decision was made to go with a submarine cable instead - better both visually and functionally. So today, this historic stretch of line lives entirely underwater. A unique piece of Vermont's grid, then and now. ❄️⚡

Thank you to VELCO Drafting Designer, Megyn Spafford for once again taking us back to the past!
