⚠️ SCAM ALERT – PLEASE BE AWARE ⚠️
The Grainger County Sheriff’s Department has received several reports involving residents who may have been scammed by individuals soliciting paving work in our area.
If you are approached by someone offering paving, driveway repair, sealing, or similar services, please use caution before agreeing to any work or making payment.
Before hiring anyone who approaches you unsolicited:
• Verify that the individual is representing a legitimate business.
• Ask for the company’s full name, address, and contact information.
• Request a written estimate or contract clearly outlining the work to be performed and the agreed-upon price.
• Do not feel pressured into making an immediate decision or payment.
• Be especially cautious of individuals who claim they have “leftover material” from another job and can offer you a special price if you agree immediately.
Taking a few minutes to verify a company and get the agreement in writing can help protect you from becoming a victim of fraud.
Please share this information, particularly with elderly family members, friends, and neighbors who may be more frequently targeted by these types of scams.
Stay alert. Verify before you hire. Protect yourself and your property.

🍅🚴‍♀️ Tour De Mater 2026 🚴‍♂️🍅
Today was one of those days that reminds you just how special our community really is.
We had 156 amazing participants check in to ride in this year’s Tour De Mater, and honestly, seeing everyone come together was something special. This event isn’t just about riding bikes. It’s about coming together for the children of Grainger County and helping make Christmas a little brighter for them through our Shop with a Cop program. 🎄🎁🚓
I have to say, the cycling community absolutely amazed me today. What a wonderful group of people! Everyone was so friendly, happy, encouraging, and genuinely excited to be there. There were smiles everywhere you looked.
It’s easy to get caught up in the work that goes into putting an event like this together, but days like today make every bit of it worth it. Watching 156 people show up, ride together, laugh together, and support a cause that directly benefits children right here in our county is something I won’t forget.
You didn’t just ride today. You helped make a difference.
To every cyclist who came out, every sponsor who supported us, every volunteer who gave their time, every officer who helped, and every person behind the scenes who worked to make today possible — thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
And to the cycling community: Thank you for supporting our event, and showing us what an incredible group of people you are. We are truly blessed to have you come into our community and support the children of Grainger County.
Today was a success because of YOU.
156 riders. One incredible community. One very important cause.
We are already looking forward to doing it all again next year. 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️🎄🚓
Thank you for helping us make Christmas brighter for the kids of Grainger County.
Big thank you to our law enforcement partners for your assistance: along with Grainger County Sheriff's Department, the following agencies assisted this event: Rutledge City Police, Bean Station Police, Blaine City Police, Grainger County Constables, TWRA, THP, and thank you to Grainger County EMS. Big shout out to olympic cyclist Kent Bostick for coming and participating and supporting this cause as well!
