Last night’s training we had some Hazmat training about opioids and things we might encounter around our area.
We also had a special visit from the MO State Highway Patrol and showed us their drone.
We went to Baring FD and met other departments from our surrounding area.

Emergency Planning Meeting Moved to Baring Firehouse

BARING, Mo. — The upcoming Knox-Scotland Local Emergency Planning District meeting has been moved to the Baring Firehouse due to a scheduling conflict at the original location.
The meeting will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Baring Firehouse, 520 Main St. It was previously scheduled to be held at the Rutledge Firehouse.

The meeting will include a drone demonstration by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and a program on how to use fentanyl test kits and identify drug paraphernalia by the Second Circuit Treatment Court Administrator.

A complimentary fried chicken dinner prepared by IDK Cafe in Baring will also be served at no cost to attendees.

The Local Emergency Planning District brings together representatives from both Knox and Scotland counties, including elected officials, law enforcement, emergency management, fire departments, emergency medical services, public health agencies, hospitals, transportation, local environmental interests, businesses and facilities that handle hazardous materials, community organizations, school districts, citizens, and broadcast and print media. The different groups work together on emergency planning, preparedness and the coordination of resources before an emergency occurs.

The district was reorganized earlier this year after the two counties were grouped into a single planning district. Meetings are intended to strengthen communication and coordination between agencies in both counties and provide training opportunities for area first responders.

RIP

The U.S. Wildland Fire Service is devastated to share that three wildland firefighters lost their lives on Saturday, June 27, as part of an interagency response to the Knowles and Gore fires along the Colorado-Utah border. Additionally, two crew members were injured in the line of duty and have been transported to a hospital.

Our immediate focus is on supporting their families, friends, and fellow crewmates during this incredibly difficult time.

The U.S. Wildland Fire Service stands united with the USDA Forest Service in grief and in our unwavering support for the loved ones left behind. Their bravery, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Additional details will be shared as they are able to be released.

Tonight was a special evening for our department as we had the opportunity to put our "new" used fire engine through its paces for the first time!

What started as an informal, impromptu training session turned into a great evening of learning, teamwork, and community. We ran the pump, checked lights and equipment, tested controls, reviewed tools, and even let a few of the kids have some fun operating the hoses. The weather couldn't have been better, and it was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the evening while getting familiar with this much-needed addition to our fleet.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who played a role in helping us acquire this engine. A project like this does not happen without the support of many people behind the scenes.

Thank you to everyone who pays fire dues, makes donations, attends our fundraisers, and supports our department throughout the year. Your generosity and commitment make purchases like this possible and help ensure we can continue providing the best service possible to our community.

We would also like to remind everyone that we are a 100% volunteer fire department. Our members dedicate countless hours away from their families, jobs, and personal lives to train, maintain equipment, respond to emergencies, and serve this community whenever needed.

We are grateful for your continued support and trust. This new engine will help us better protect our community for years to come, and we couldn't have done it without you.

Thank you for supporting your volunteer firefighters!
