Friends of the Rye Free Reading Room were treated to a very special evening with James Beard and Associated Press award-winning food and travel writer J.M. Hirsch.
Our guests enjoyed an entertaining conversation about food writing and mixology, along with tasty bites and beverages — and also received a signed copy of Hirsch’s book “Freezer Door Cocktails: 75 Cocktails That Are Ready When You Are.” Make More Possible — Support our Annual Campaign!

Local resident and author, DJ Hennes, along with Brian Carso, lawyer, author, and historian, will together reveal how the messiest, most dangerous truths of the Revolutionary War make for its best stories — and why historical fiction, done right, doesn’t have to choose between accuracy and adrenaline.
