Tomorrow is the start to early voting. Early voting is only available in Uvalde at the SSGT Willie De Leon Civic Center. If you’re working in Uvalde or running errands, go get voting done… I always vote early because you never know.

Although our City Council meeting was canceled, Budget Chairwoman Chasity Dean Martinez and I still had the opportunity to sit down and review portions of the City’s system’s budget, including water, sewer, and other operational expenses.

I am truly honored to lead Sabinal and the opportunity to represent nearly 2,000 Sabinalians.

Whether it’s working to bring additional resources and funding to our community, advocating for our mighty Yellow and Lady Jackets (our youth), supporting our Police and Fire Departments, improving infrastructure, or simply fighting for a better quality of life for our residents, my commitment remains the same.

I know there is still plenty of work to be done, and I certainly don’t or will not have all the answers.I will always do my best to make sure Sabinal has a voice, our needs are heard, and our community is never forgotten.

It’s an honor to serve, and I’ll never take that responsibility for granted.

Southwest Texas College mourns the passing of Dr. Harry O. Watkins, President of the SWTX Board of Trustees.

For more than 28 years, Dr. Watkins faithfully served Southwest Texas College, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to higher education and the communities we serve.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Joy, their family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Services honoring Dr. Watkins will be held on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Getty Street Church of Christ, located at 125 East Garden Street, Uvalde, TX.

🚨 ANOTHER GRANT WON FOR SABINAL! 🚨

I’m proud to announce that the City of Sabinal has been awarded $598,217 for a BRAND-NEW FIRE TRUCK for the Sabinal Fire Department! 🚒🔥

This is another major investment in our community and, most importantly, in the brave men and women, our heroes, who answer the call when our residents need them most.

Sabinal Fire Department is an amazing organization who deserves this and so much more! These heroes get up everyday knowing they could be dispatched at any time to the worst/ most dangerous situations possible all to serve their neighbors, for free. Our city team and I will always fight and advocate for them.

As Mayor, I work for Sabinal. Sabinal has spoken loudly by always being there to support our brave firefighters. They also expressed it, TWICE in the (not passed) vote in establishing a much needed ESD. Sabinal said YES! Sabinal backs our firefighters!!

Back to this award, the approximate total grant funding secured for the City of Sabinal is approximately $3,222,217! These funds are helping make projects possible that would otherwise place a major/ nearly impossible financial burden on our local taxpayers, including our Downtown Plaza, sewer system improvements and pumps, police equipment and overtime, Safe Routes to School sidewalk project, playground equipment, a new fire truck, and more.

There is still plenty of work to do. We will continue working with our staff, local partners, state and federal agencies, and anyone willing to help Sabinal secure funding for much-needed improvements throughout our community. (Yes, that includes hunting down any type of financial assistance in streets and roads in Sabinal)

Every grant we pursue is another opportunity to bring our tax dollars back home, strengthen our infrastructure, improve public safety, and invest in Sabinal’s AMAZING future.

$3.2 MILLION+ and counting! 🇺🇸🚒

We’re going to keep working, keep applying, and keep moving Sabinal forward!
