🗳️ IOWA VOTERS: Poll worker initials do NOT invalidate your ballot!

Our office has received questions regarding a social media post that is circulating claiming that any writing by a poll worker will disqualify your ballot. That claim is incorrect in Iowa.

Iowa Code §49.82 requires a precinct election official to initial each ballot before giving it to a voter. These initials are a required part of the election process and will not cause your ballot to be rejected.

✅ You do not need a replacement ballot simply because a poll worker has initialed it.

If you have questions about anything on your ballot, please contact the Sac County Auditor’s Office.
