25 years ago today, our nation was changed forever.

We remember the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and the heroes – first responders, service members, and ordinary Americans – who showed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We will always remember. 🇺🇸

The 19th Amendment was certified 106 years ago today, marking a historic milestone for women’s suffrage.

Yet the fight for equality has continued through leaders like the late Honorable Rep. Lois Galgay Reckitt and, more recently, Representative Holly T. Sargent, who introduced an Equal Rights Amendment to the Maine Constitution last year.

This , we honor that legacy and continue the fight for full gender equality under the law for every Mainer.

Today marks 106 years since the ratification of the 19th Amendment, a historic step for women’s suffrage.

The generation who fought for suffrage expanded the promise of our democracy. As voting rights face renewed threats, we honor their legacy by continuing the work of protecting that promise and building a more equitable Maine.

I’m proud to have sponsored LD 522, now in effect, directing the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women to study workforce gender segregation in Maine.

Understanding the root causes of the gender wage gap is an important step toward making sure working moms and families have a fair shot at economic security.

Every parent deserves a fair opportunity to provide for their family. Yet working mothers earn just 64 cents for every dollar earned by working fathers. For many mothers of color, this gap is even wider.

As a single mom, I know firsthand how hard it can be to work and raise a family at the same time. In the Legislature, I’ll keep fighting to ensure Maine’s working moms have a fairer shot at building economic security.

Last week, a new law took effect that will help mobile homeowners in Maine save money.

The law allows mobile homes to be titled as real estate rather than personal property – giving mobile homeowners a chance to refinance their home with a mortgage that's more affordable.

That could mean saving hundreds of dollars every month and tens of thousands of dollars over the life of the loan.
