Shown here is volunteer Bernice Leslie test-driving our new document/book/photo digitization workstation at our Museum Support Center-North, Sacramento Okinawa Street Armory Complex.
Thanks to an anonymous donor, we received a CZUR ET-16 overhead, high-speed book and document scanner, a large format (11 x 17-inch) flatbed scanner, and a new laptop computer and monitor.
We also received a Kodak 35mm slide and negative scanner, which we will use until we acquire an Epson V-800 high-resolution scanner that will be requested through the state supply system next state fiscal year.

Today was a great day for the program when Ms. Gwen Truex, widow of BG Gary Truex, the last commander of the 175th Medical Brigade, turned over the distinguishing flags of the 175th Medical Group and its successor, the 175th Medical Brigade, which stood down in 1996.
Shown here, l to r, are CSM Dan Sebby (Program Director), Tammy Arno (President, 175th Med Bde Alumni Assn), Gwen Truex, and Bob Rojas (2nd VP). Photo by Rich Arno (1st VP).
These two "colors" represent a history ranging from 1968 to 1997.
We want to commend the Truex family for protecting these valuable pieces of history when there was no system in place to properly take custody of such items.
These flags will undergo conservation and eventual framing for display.
Also transferred were a large number of photographs, which are being reviewed by members of the 175th Medical Brigade Alumni Association, who will provide historical context.

Many thanks to the Transportation Branch of the US Property and Fiscal Office for California for transporting our M101A1 105mm Towed Howitzer from Joint Forces Training Base Los Alamitos to the Consolidated Headquarters Complex in Rancho Cordova.
The California Army National Guard used this workhorse of the Field Artillery from 1942 until the 40th Infantry Division was reformed as mechanized division in 1974.

Today, museum volunteers and members of our supporting California State Guard Military Museum Command organized fifty banker boxes of photographs and archived documents in preparation for transfer to our Museum Support Center-South, Camp San Luis Obispo. These photographs have been digitized and placed in archival sleeves and binders. It is estimated that these boxes contain over ten thousand prints.
We also organized five banker boxes of rolled panoramic photos that need to be rehydrated, unrolled and flattened, scanned, and filed. We estimate that there are over two hundred panoramic prints.
We have already processed over six hundred panoramic photos for long-term storage, and another one hundred have been framed for display.
