California’s future doesn’t get shaped in silos. It gets shaped in rooms like this.
At NCC’s Spring Investor Convening in Newport Beach, investors, partners, and leaders came together for two days of meaningful dialogue around the issues shaping California’s future.

With gubernatorial candidates Representative Eric Swalwell, Sheriff Chad Bianco, and Mayor Matt Mahan, and conversations centered on housing, homelessness, middle-income jobs, water, and energy, the message was clear: California needs practical, solutions-oriented leadership.

NCC isn’t sitting on the sidelines. We’re helping shape the conversation and to build the path forward.

Big news for California housing.

We’re proud to support AB 1751 (Quirk-Silva) — The Missing Middle Townhome Ownership Act.

At a time when homeownership feels out of reach for too many Californians, this bill focuses on a practical solution: townhomes.

✔️ Cuts red tape
✔️ Lowers building costs
✔️ Expands access to attainable “starter homes”
✔️ Helps working Californians finally enter the housing market

Townhomes are often ~$220,000 less than single-family homes — making them one of the most realistic paths to ownership today.

AB 1751 builds on recent housing reforms to unlock faster, more cost-effective development — without the barriers that slow down traditional condo projects.

Because when more Californians can afford to live where they work, our entire economy benefits.

What does the future of the Central Coast look like?

Last week, NCC's Co-Founder and Board Chair Jim Wunderman from California Forever took the stage to help answer that very question.

The conversation centered on REACH 2030 + Beyond, a bold regional agenda connecting jobs, housing, and people into a thriving, inclusive vision for the Central Coast. The energy in the room was a powerful reminder of what's possible when thought leaders, state partners, and local changemakers come together.

We left with a continued commitment to shaping a future that is dynamic, prosperous, and built for everyone.

A big evening in Sacramento.

The New California Coalition hosted legislators and policymakers last night, with 28 Assemblymembers and Senators in attendance, for a conversation focused on California’s future.

Housing. Energy. Water. Middle-wage jobs.
These conversations matter.

Grateful for the leaders and partners working together to move California forward.

Great meeting with Senator Jesse Arreguín to discuss housing affordability, public safety, and opportunities to support small businesses across California.

We also talked about the Missing Middle Townhome Ownership Act and the importance of expanding homeownership opportunities for Californians.

Productive conversations like these help move practical solutions forward.

Not one voter knew their lawmaker. New California Coalition is trying to change that 03/04/2026

We’re proud to see NCC's CEO Tracy Hernandez featured in The Business Journal following her remarks at The Fresno Business Council.

The article highlights NCC’s growing statewide impact — from surpassing 1,000 partner organizations to advancing solutions on housing, middle-income jobs, water and energy security, and homelessness. It also underscores an important challenge facing California: the disconnect between voters and the policymakers shaping their daily lives.

NCC is working to change that by bringing business leaders, communities, and policymakers together to build California’s new political center — focused on pragmatic solutions and real results.

Traffic isn’t just inconvenient, it shapes where we live, where we work, and who gets access to opportunity.
In this week’s Bear Essentials, we unpack why LA is moving beyond “just add lanes” and toward a bold transit solution beneath the Santa Monica Mountains. It’s not just about trains, it’s about shrinking the city and expanding possibility.
