New federal funds announced to support wildfire impacted communities and local economies 🔥
• Governor Newsom has allocated $40.7 million to five communities hardest hit by the 2018 wildfires to support community development and aid in their full economic recovery.
• U.S. Forest Service has awarded $20 million nationally to transport hazardous fuels from forests to facilities for processing with $7.3 million of these funds supporting 12 projects in CA.

California’s public seed bank made history in 2024🌲

Thanks to seed collection by the U.S. Forest Service and CAL FIRE, California's public seed banks achieved a record-breaking collection of 11,330 bushels of conifer seed-bearing cones! These efforts were supported by California Reforestation Pipeline Partnership and are vital for restoring California's forests and enhancing wildfire resilience.
The collected cones will be processed into seeds, grown into seedlings, and planted to rejuvenate ecosystems and protect communities.
