I’m honored to receive a 100% score on Jewish California’s 2026 Legislative Scorecard and to be recognized among this year’s legislative standouts! 
As a member of the California Legislative Jewish Caucus, I’m proud to stand with California’s Jewish community in fighting antisemitism, protecting civil rights, and ensuring our communities are safe, supported, and heard. 
Thank you to Jewish California (formerly JPAC) and its coalition of 46 Jewish organizations for your advocacy and partnership. I look forward to continuing this important work together.

It was an honor to deliver the keynote at the CCAPP 13th Annual California Addiction Conference!

Addiction touches so many families, including my own. That’s why I’m committed to expanding access to treatment, strengthening recovery services, and ensuring people can get the help they need before reaching a crisis.

Thank you to CCAPP and the dedicated professionals who work every day to change lives and support Californians on their path to recovery.

California’s history is deeply rooted in the cultures, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous peoples who have called this land home for thousands of years. 
This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we celebrate California’s Native communities, recognize their enduring contributions to our state, and acknowledge the injustices they have faced throughout history. 
As we honor this rich heritage, we must also continue working to protect Tribal sovereignty, preserve Indigenous cultures and traditions, and ensure Native communities have a strong voice in shaping California’s future.

🏳️‍🌈 Happy National Coming Out Day! 🏳️‍⚧️ 
Coming out is a deeply personal journey, and everyone deserves the freedom to do so on their own terms, in their own time, and when they feel safe.

For some, coming out is a moment of celebration. For others, it can be difficult, complicated, or even unsafe.  No one should ever feel pressured to come out before they’re ready. 
Today, we celebrate the courage of those who have come out, stand with those who aren’t ready or able to, and reaffirm our commitment to building a world where every LGBTQ+ person can live openly, authentically, and safely.

Three years ago today, Hamas carried out the deadliest attack against the Jewish people since the Holocaust — murdering approximately 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages. 
Today, we remember the innocent lives stolen on October 7, the families forever changed, and all those who have endured unimaginable pain in the years since. 
May the memories of those we lost be a blessing.

Happy to share that Governor Newsom has signed my bill into law — protecting hospitality jobs from being put at risk by speculative property valuations.
 The new law ensures hotel and motel ground rents are based on realistic development conditions, not hypothetical projects that exist only on paper. This protects workers while preserving California’s important tools for building more affordable housing.

SIGNED BY THE GOVERNOR! ✍️🌊 
After 50 years without a certified Local Coastal Program, Santa Monica finally has a clear path forward. 
Governor Newsom has signed my bill into law — creating a path for Santa Monica to bring most coastal permitting decisions back home while preserving the strong protections that make California’s coast so special. 
And the new law goes beyond Santa Monica, creating a streamlined process for bike, pedestrian, and transit projects that improve public access to the coast across California. 
Thank you to City of Santa Monica and Streets For All for sponsoring this bill, to the Coastal Commission and all of the stakeholders who worked in good faith to make this agreement possible, and to Governor Newsom for signing it into law!

I’m excited to share that Governor Newsom has signed my bill into law — helping brick-and-mortar California retailers cut through permitting delays and open their doors faster. 
Too often, businesses ready to invest in our communities are forced to sit and wait because of lengthy permitting processes. AB 1693 creates a faster, more predictable path for qualifying retail improvements while maintaining important health and safety standards. 
That means more open storefronts, stronger commercial corridors, and more people getting to work. 
Thank you to the California Retail Association and WC3 Chambers of Commerce for sponsoring this bill and partnering with me to get it across the finish line!

Excited to share that Governor Newsom has signed my bill, into law — strengthening retirement security for part-time community college faculty across California!
 Part-time faculty are essential to our community colleges, but too many educators face complicated retirement choices without clear information about how those decisions will affect their financial future. AB 2417 ensures part-time faculty have Social Security among their retirement options and receive clear information about the retirement options available to them — helping educators make the choice that works best for their future.
