🌟🌟The Future of Housing, Taking Shape🌟🌟

We wrapped up two productive days with the project team during the prototype review for Fairview Terrace, the pilot project in our six-project modular housing pipeline.

Bringing together the developer, architect, general contractor, financing partners, consultants, and key trade partners in front of the full-scale unit creates a powerful opportunity to align expectations, solve challenges early, and identify improvements that we’ll carry forward into future builds.

A special thank you to everyone involved for the time, collaboration, and commitment to making this a streamlined delivery process. The impact goes far beyond one project—these lessons will help streamline delivery and shape hundreds of affordable homes still to come.

We appreciate the partnership and look forward to bringing this vision to life—together. 👏

At Mutual Housing, we believe strong communities are built through connection. 💛💙🩵🧡

Residents at the Mutual Housing at Norwood community brought that vision to life through a collaborative art project, creating a vibrant reminder of what can grow when neighbors come together, share their voices, and support one another. 🎨✨

Resident Services Coordinator Veronica Pendleton shared:

"At Norwood, our Gather & Grow socials continue to be a space where creativity, healing, connection, and community come together. This collaborative art collage was created by participating residents as a reflection of the strength, love, joy, peace, unity, and respect that continue to grow within our community.

Each piece represents individual thoughts, emotions, and creativity, while together forming a powerful display of resilience and togetherness. Through art, conversation, and shared experiences, residents are building stronger connections and creating a welcoming environment where every voice and expression matters.

This artwork reminds us that when a community comes together with open hearts and creativity, beautiful things can grow."

Home is more than a building — it’s where life begins to settle in. 💛

At San Juan Apartments, that’s already happening. Families are moving in, kids are exploring new spaces, and neighbors are beginning to connect.

A big shoutout to our property operations and resident services teams already hard at work welcoming residents home throughout last week’s Memorial Day weekend. That immediate transition from construction completion to community building reflects the heart of this work.

We’re so grateful to our partners who helped bring this vision to life: Sunseri Construction, Mogavero Architects, Cunningham Engineering, Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency, Sacramento County - Government, and the City of Sacramento, Government.

This is just the beginning. We can’t wait to celebrate together at the Grand Welcoming with Kim, Jaraya, and all the other San Juan residents later this summer as San Juan Apartments continues to come to life. 🏡

California is at a critical moment in its budget process. The Governor’s May Revise does not include funding for many essential affordable housing and homelessness programs, putting housing stability, homelessness response, and affordable housing production at risk.

With previous bond funding depleted and new bond resources unavailable until at least 2027, General Fund investments remain essential to meet immediate needs across the state.

A coalition of over 100 organizations is urging the Administration and Legislature to invest at least $3.3 billion in affordable housing and homelessness programs to help Californians remain housed and expand access to affordable homes.

Now is the time to act. Contact state leaders and urge them to prioritize affordable housing and homelessness investments in the final budget: https://tinyurl.com/MayReviseHousing2026

“We’ve heard from youth who said it showed them, for the first time, what it takes to start a business—and just as importantly, how meaningful it was to have a teammate to collaborate with along the way. That combination of skill-building and connection is incredibly powerful.”

Programs like Piranha Tank help create opportunities for youth in Mutual Housing communities to explore teamwork, creativity, confidence-building, and entrepreneurship in ways that can shape future goals and possibilities.

We’re grateful to SAFE Credit Union for supporting this work and investing in opportunities that help residents learn, grow, and connect.

👀 Monarch and Sakura are currently the only active housing developments moving forward along the R Street Corridor — underscoring the deep, long-term commitment nonprofit developers like Mutual Housing California and CADA Apartments bring to addressing Sacramento’s housing needs.

We’re proud that both communities were recently highlighted in the Sacramento Business Journal’s 2026 “Redefining the Core” issue. Together, Mutual Housing California and CADA are advancing much-needed affordable housing while leveraging state investment to strengthen transit access and infrastructure in the downtown core.

Monarch and Sakura represent more than housing — they reflect a cross-sector approach to inclusive economic development, ensuring Sacramento’s growth benefits residents across income levels.

We look forward to welcoming residents home in 2027.
