Summer Reading We're challenging all of Sacramento to be an example for young readers by signing up for Summer Reading and reading 650,000 books this summer.

In 1960, French writer Raymond Queneau published Cent mille milliards de poèmes — a book with just 10 pages, yet it's impossible to finish in a lifetime. Why?
Each page contains a sonnet with interchangeable lines, printed on strips. You can mix and match lines from each page to create your own poem — and the result?
👉 100 trillion (10¹⁴) unique combinations.
That’s a new poem every time — likely one that no human has ever read before.
Queneau calculated that reading one poem every minute would take over 200 million years to complete the entire book. 😮
