With less than one week until Election Day, make sure your vote counts!
You can drop your ballot off at a Vote Center or official County Elections drop box, or vote in person! Plenty of Vote Centers are open across Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties, with additional centers opening May 30.
If you're mailing your ballot, walk it into your post office and ask them to postmark it. Due to changes in the postal service, mail does not get postmarked as quickly as in the past. California law allows ballots that are postmarked on or before June 2 and received by June 9 to be processed and added to the count.

Signed today, SB 73 takes effect immediately to protect ballots from unlawful seizure.
Safeguarding Californians’ votes is the duty and honor of my lifetime. Return your ballot to a drop box or vote center by June 2.

When someone is strong enough to speak honestly about the reality of their mental health, they deserve compassion, support, and crisis prevention — not escalation.
AB 1988, the PAUSE Act, recognizes that AI chatbots are language simulators that must be programmed to pause and connect users to real crisis support when someone expresses thoughts of harming themselves or others.
I'm proud this bill passed unopposed through the Assembly, and it's now headed to the Senate!

I look forward to the Q***r Youth Leadership Awards every year! For 29 years, the Diversity Center has been uplifting, celebrating, and fighting for the safety, inclusion, and health of our youth. Congratulations to all awardees for their well-deserved recognition as the leaders and allies that they are. 🌈💖
While visiting the Santa Cruz Pride table at the event, I was surprised to learn I’ve been selected as one of this year’s Grand Marshalls of the parade! I’ll see you at Santa Cruz Pride parade on June 7!

Today, we remember. This Memorial Day, I'm deeply grateful for the courage and sacrifice of those who gave their lives in military service to our country — its freedoms and democracy. We must honor their legacy with a fierce commitment to upholding the values worth fighting for.

The California Nonprofit of the Year Luncheon continues to be a highlight of each legislative session. 🧡
For over 50 years, Community Solutions has supported folks navigating mental health, substance use challenges, domestic violence, and more. It was my great honor to welcome CEO Rachel Montoya and VP Melissa Santos to the Capitol and celebrate the tremendous impact the organization has across our district!
Their work changes lives every day, and our communities are stronger because of their care.

I had a great time visiting resource booths and chatting with residents at the Senior Resource Fair in Morgan Hill last week! The Senior Advisory Committee did a terrific job organizing a morning full of useful information, speakers, and entertainment.
