We’re so proud of this moment 💫

Be A Mentor recently attended the California Police Activities League Youth Mentoring Leadership Academy (YMLA) Conference in Sacramento, where we recognized their organization for their work partnering with Rural CalPAL sites alongside the California National Guard.

This recognition reflects the impact of mentorship and the strength of the communities we serve.

✨ Special recognition to Sylvia Garner, CalPAL Resident Trainer and Palmdale Site Coordinator, for her leadership and dedication to mentoring youth.
And special recognition to Lt. John Sivilla, our California National Guard partner, for his long-standing commitment to California PAL and continued support of the Mentors for California Rural Youth program.

We are incredibly grateful and inspired to continue empowering youth through mentorship and leadership opportunities.

Opportunities that go beyond the classroom.

From the California PAL Soccer Cup — bringing together 1,500 youth and 95 teams statewide — to summer camping experiences in partnership with California State Parks, PAL programs create spaces where youth build confidence, teamwork, and trust.

Whether it’s on the field or on the trail, these moments shape leadership, resilience, and belonging.

Your support helps cover access — from tournament fields to summer camp spots — so every youth has the chance to participate.

Who is California PAL?

It began with a simple idea in 1914:
prevention over reaction by building bonds between youth and officers.

In 1971, California built on that vision — creating a statewide organization to support local PAL chapters while honoring the unique needs of each community.

Today, California PAL supports 70+ chapters and serves 40,000+ undeserved youth across the state.

This is mentorship.
This is prevention.
This is community — at scale.

💙 Follow along as we share current events held by all our PAL, SAL, YAL organizations full of Holiday Spirit of giving!
