Shelters are not ideal long-term. Constant stress causes decline, dogs become reactive or shut down. Despite our best efforts with playgroups, walks, and enrichment, the shelter environment can still be hard on dogs. We're committed to transparency and doing what's best for their quality of life.

Final Plea gives visibility to dogs declining in our care who urgently need the structured, calm environments only adoption or rescue placement can provide. It's our last effort to get them help NOW.

REESE (A913675) – 2 yr Labrador mix ⭐AVAILABLE FOR RESCUE AND ADOPTION⭐
Big-hearted, energetic pup hoping for fresh start. Returned multiple times through no lack of personality. Needs right environment and guidance to succeed. BEHAVIORAL: Previous adopters concerned about energy level and resource guarding. Most recent return involved scuffle with resident dog over food item, resulted in human bite. Needs home without young children. Requires structure, management, setting him up for success. At shelter, shows wonderful qualities! Enjoys playgroups with social dogs, affectionate with people, walks nicely on leash. Beneath exuberant personality is dog looking for someone willing to see his potential. Needs committed rescue or adopter for controlled, structured environment and behavior support to thrive!

ZUKO (A921710) – 9 yr Chihuahua ⭐RESCUE ONLY⭐
Big personality packed into tiny body! Arrived as stray. Small but definitely has opinions about how he likes things done. Currently housed with small dogs but makes boundaries clear, prefers personal space respected. Mixed signals with people as he learns to navigate new interactions and build trust. Seems more comfortable around men. Learning to walk on leash, gain confidence at own pace. MEDICAL: Moderate dental calculus, not yet comfortable with full oral exam.
Needs patient, understanding rescue who respects boundaries, helps him feel safe, provides comfortable retirement while addressing medical needs. Someone to see love behind attitude!

This girl survived losing her owner, an emergency delivery, major surgery, motherhood, and shelter life.

The hardest thing about Doja is explaining why she's still available.

Mochi looks like she has a side quest for you.

You'd be walking through an enchanted forest minding your business and she'd suddenly appear like:

Then she'd send you on a journey to find three magical artifacts and somehow, you'd trust her completely.

Look at her. Those eyes know things.

Mochi is a 2-year-old Husky/Akita mix who somehow looks like she stepped straight out of an animated movie, but she's not just a pretty face. She's sweet, friendly, walks beautifully on leash, and enjoys spending time with both people and other dogs. She's currently sharing a kennel with a male dog she arrived with and has done well in shelter playgroups, suggesting she may enjoy a compatible canine companion in her future home.

At 70 pounds, she's got the majestic look of a legendary forest guardian but the personality of a dog who just wants to hang out with her people and be included in the adventure.
