Had a great time at the 2026 CalCART Summit at Table Mountain. Great presenters and a lot to take back to improve our Animal Response Team program. Shout out to the great staff at Shelterly for the demo!

Sacramento CERT would like to recognize the graduates of the Basic CERT Academy 2026-01. Over the course of three weeks, students learned basic Disaster Prep, CERT Organization, Disaster Medical, Fire and Utilities Control, Light Search and Rescue, Disaster Psychology, and Terrorism Awareness.

On Saturday, 29 students attended a full-scale exercise to put it all together, conducting structural size-up, search, rescue, and medical treatment for survivors. Sacramento CERT Instructors and Cadre would like to express our appreciation to Alessandro D, Chelle E, Chloe J, Crystal E, Curtis T, Detrecia W, Giovanni R, Jacob B, Jamie T, Jeff B, Jeffrey S, Joe W, John G, Justen C, Kathleen H, Ken M, Kyleigh J, Laura H, Lina K, Marielle S, Narma R, Natalie K, Nguyen N, Nicole S, Rafa G, Raiden K, Sarah S, Schuyler W, Thomas C, and Will B.

Tonight, Sacramento CERT Basic Academy class 2026-01 is finishing it's last classroom lectures. This Saturday, the class will "put it all together" in a full scale hands on disaster simulation exercise. Congratulations to all 30 students and we look forward to the seeing you at the drill on Saturday!

The Sacramento CERT 2026 Spring Academy started tonight! Very happy to see 36 new faces taking in distaster preparedness and response information. Thank you to all in attendance and to our dedicated instructor cadre!

Today, the Sacramento Fire Department and Community Foundation (SFDCF) and the Sacramento Fire Department Community Emergency Response Team (SFD CERT) would like to extend our sincere thanks to The Peter and Catherine Lampman Foundation, a charitable fund of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation.

Yesterday, they made a generous donation to the SFDCF to assist with the CERT program. It is through wonderful donations such as this that the SFD CERT program can carry out it's mission of supporting first responders during emergencies, and training citizens on disaster preparedness.

This donation comes at a unique time - the day before receiving this donation, the Sacramento Fire CERT program's TF-7 Mobilization Team had just activated to send elements of the FEMA California Task Force 7 Urban Search and Rescue team to Washington to support the region during extreme flooding events, illustrating how well trained volunteer community members can assist first responders.

Thank you to Christine, Spencer, and Haley of The Peter and Catherine Lampman Foundation, and the Sacramento Region Community Foundation for all they do in support of our mission - and through that mission, the first responders in our region and across California!
