🚨 The Lithium Valley Construction Workforce Ordinance has PASSED.
After years of organizing and advocacy by the Imperial County Building & Construction Trades Council Afl-Cio and its affiliates, Imperial County has approved one of the strongest workforce standards ordinances in the country — supporting local hire, apprenticeship opportunities, and good union jobs in Lithium Valley.
This is a major victory for workers and the future of the region. Thank you to everyone who turned out to support this effort and helped make this incredible win possible!

Today, as we observe Farmworkers Day, we recognize the lasting contributions of farmworkers whose labor has shaped our communities and whose sacrifice and solidarity exemplify the best of the labor movement.
At the same time, we must acknowledge the troubling allegations that have emerged regarding Cesar Chavez. These accounts point to a serious abuse of power that stands in direct contradiction to the values our movement is built on and must uphold. There is no place in it for harassment, exploitation, or the silencing of others.
This day is also for the survivors, whose courage in speaking out has led to this important reminder: no individual is greater than the movement itself, and no one is above accountability.
We move forward, committed to holding ourselves and others in the labor movement to the highest standard without exception.

130 years of STRENGTH and SOLIDARITY!
Congratulations to the San Francisco Building & Construction Trades Council for generations of building San Francisco union strong! 💪✊
Today we mark 130 years of building San Francisco with union labor.
San Francisco wasn’t built by chance. It was built by union workers who organized, fought back, and set the standard for dignity on the job.
For 130 years, the San Francisco Building Trades Council has helped win the eight-hour day, rebuild the city after the 1906 earthquake and fires, and mobilize the shipyards during World War II to defend democracy.
Through union apprenticeship, we’ve opened the doors of the middle class to generations of working people creating skilled careers, family-sustaining wages, and safer jobs.
Every skyline tells the story.
Every jobsite proves the truth.
San Francisco is a union town-built by union labor.
