While we are planning to break ground on the Blackrock project this summer, it's not the only project we hope to bring to fruition in the near future.

At Natomas Charter School - Star Academy we are planning a $8-10 million classroom expansion which would provide additional TK classrooms, another playground, special education spaces, and a dedicated visual arts classroom. Did you know that Mrs. Shane's room is technically a green room for the MPR?

This project is a bit further out as charter schools were not included in the statewide TK classroom grant process. However, between funds set aside for facilities by our Board of Directors and a potential future local school bond we hope to build these classrooms for our students in the near future.

We appreciate the Natomas Unified School District partnership which provides for amazing district campuses for our charter school students including the students at Star Academy. Without this collaboration and the investments made by Natomas property owners we would not have these campuses.

Did you know that next summer we will embark on a multi-year, $30 million remodel of our Blackrock campus which was originally built in 1999?

Once complete, all of our existing portables will be replaced with permanent classrooms, including a new two-story Natomas Charter School - Leading Edge building, remodeled restrooms, a new small theater and drama classrooms, and updated visual arts and middle school science classrooms for Natomas Charter School - PFAA. We will also have an upgraded soccer field and track. Once complete the project will also allow for additional space for the Natomas Charter School Early College Academy and our special education program.

This project is a joint collaborative charter school and school district project with funds coming from a statewide charter school facilities grant, facilities funds saved up and allocated by our NCS Board of Directors, and potentially local school bond dollars.

These types of projects would not be possible without the support of Natomas Unified School District, as well as the generosity of local and state taxpayers through school facility bonds. These funds ensure we have modern campuses to serve our current student and future population. We are looking forward to getting started in 2027!
