Welcome to June!
Today, many of us flipped our calendars to a new month. At the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation, that simple turn of the page serves as a reminder of the lives we touch, the families we support, and the mission that drives us every day.
June is especially meaningful for the CPOF family as we prepare to welcome surviving families, assault survivors, correctional professionals, volunteers, and supporters from across the nation to PROJECT 2000 in Salt Lake City. Together, we will honor sacrifice, celebrate courage, strengthen friendships, and remind one another that no one stands alone.
As we begin this new month, we invite you to take a moment to reflect on those we have lost, those still fighting their battles, and the correctional professionals who continue to serve with dedication and pride every day.
Here's to a month of remembrance, connection, healing, and hope.
đź’™ Thank you for being part of the CPOF family.

The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation recently provided a gift of assistance to Eddie King and his family following the tragic loss of Officer Kimberly King.
On April 25, 2026, Officer King was struck by a truck while walking alongside a highway with her grandchild. In a final act of courage and selflessness, Kimberly pushed the child out of the path of the oncoming vehicle, saving the child’s life.
Officer King is remembered for her bravery, sacrifice, and love for her family. She leaves behind her husband, Eddie King, also an employee of the Georgia Department of Corrections, along with countless loved ones and members of the corrections community who continue to mourn her loss.
Through our Catastrophic Assistance Program, CPOF remains committed to standing beside correctional professionals and their families during times of tragedy and hardship.
Please join us in keeping the King family in your thoughts and prayers.

The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation was honored to participate in the Mental Health Awareness Fun Run hosted by the Department of State Hospitals-Coalinga in California.
Representing CPOF at the event were Volunteer California Field Representative Carey Mendiboure, volunteer John Mendiboure, Board Chair Chevi Amrein, and Membership and Marketing Manager Denise Miller.
The event served as an important reminder that the correctional family extends far beyond traditional custody roles. At DSH-Coalinga, thousands of dedicated professionals — including hospital police, psychiatric technicians, nurses, support staff, maintenance personnel, administrative employees, and clinical teams — work daily within a secure forensic environment caring for court-committed individuals.
CPOF proudly recognizes these professionals as part of our correctional family and reminds eligible employees that membership is open to those serving in correctional and forensic settings, regardless of title.
We thank DSH-Coalinga for their hospitality and for hosting such a meaningful event focused on wellness, awareness, and support for those who serve others every day.

This week, we pause to remember and honor the correctional professionals who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others. Behind every badge is a family, a story, and a legacy that will never be forgotten.
To those we have lost, your dedication, strength, and commitment continue to inspire us. To the families, friends, and coworkers who carry that loss each day, please know the corrections community stands beside you.
We remember them not only for how they served, but for how they lived, the lives they touched, and the love they gave so freely.
End of Watch. Never Forgotten. 🖤💙

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we hold dear, and their legacy will never be forgotten.
At the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation, we also recognize the many veterans within the corrections profession who continue a life of service long after their military careers end. We are grateful for their dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to protecting others.
This Memorial Day, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect, remember, and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
🇺🇸 “All gave some. Some gave all.” 🇺🇸

Today, the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation proudly announces the appointment of Rachel Lee as Executive Director of CPOF.
For many within the corrections family, Rachel is already a familiar face. After years of dedicated service to the Foundation, working alongside the organization’s founders and helping shape many of the programs and traditions that define CPOF today, Rachel now steps into this leadership role with decades of experience, compassion, and commitment to our mission.
The accompanying photo captures a powerful moment — Rachel standing with the CPOF Board of Directors in front of the wall honoring the Foundation’s founding fathers. These are the very individuals she worked beside throughout her career, learning firsthand the vision and values that built this organization. Her appointment symbolizes both the continuation of that legacy and the future of CPOF’s mission to always take care of our own.
Please join us in congratulating Rachel Lee on this well-deserved appointment.

Behind every badge is a person who chose a profession built on service, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to others. Today, we pause to remember Administrator Conant, his family, his coworkers, and the lasting impact his loss left on the corrections profession.
Please join us in honoring his memory and reflecting on the risks correctional staff continue to face each day while Taking Care of Our Own.
