Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the enduring strength of Black communities. It is a time to honor those who came before us, reflect on the sacrifices they made, and recognize how far we have come. But it is also a reminder that freedom is not a destination we have reached, it is a journey we must continue to protect, strengthen, and advance.
As we reflect on our past, we must also be honest about the challenges facing us today.
Across the country, policies and decisions are being made that threaten access to healthcare, economic opportunity, education, and civic participation.
That is why we often say: Your health and your vote are connected.
The policies enacted by elected officials shape the healthcare system we navigate every day. They determine who has access to coverage, what services are available, how resources are distributed, and whether communities like ours are seen, heard, and prioritized.
