Extremists hate Ranked Choice Voting because Ranked Choice Voting increases voter satisfaction and extremists need voters to be angry & fearful.

Ranked Choice Voting empowers candidates to reach out to the whole community and advance broadly popular solutions. Extremists need us divided and marginalized.

Extremists will keep attacking Ranked Choice Voting, and communities will keep adopting Ranked Choice Voting anyway... Why? Because it works!

President Donald Trump on Thursday urged Alaskans to repeal ranked-choice voting in November, asking in a Truth Social post, "How stupid are we to do this?" and criticizing the state's four-way governor's race.

RCV can reduce extremism, decrease the spoiler effect, ensure the winner actually gets a majority support, and captures the will of the people better. If you're serious about dismantling a corrupt, rigged duopoly, improving representation, and promoting political competition, this is a no-brainer.

You likely recall, we were already signature-gathering earlier last Spring... We were trying to hit that 45k target in time to get on the 2026 ballot...

We fell just short...

So now we're aiming for the 2028 ballot! (though our deadline is March 2027)..

This sets up a Good News/Bad News situation..

The bad news is, we have to start all over.. If you already signed the petition last Spring we need to ask you to sign it again (But no worries, it takes 5 seconds)

The GOOD NEWS is, we're much stronger now than we were last time we tried ‼️We now have:

✅️ more volunteers
✅️ a bigger coalition
✅️ more organization and planning, and
✅️ Wayy more time! (Six months❗️whereas last time we only had three!)

So, we like our odds!

Our City Council Members are incredibly talented, hardworking, and well-intentioned.

But they're victims of Sac's deeply flawed election process. And so are the voters!

Sac's current election process:

❌ E️ncourages negative campaigning,

❌ P️ressures candidates to appeal narrowly to their "base" instead of addressing community needs, and

❌ I️nstalls most Council Members in the Primary w/ extremely low voter turnout, so most of their own constituents have never seen their name on a ballot!

The Sacramento Bee recently reported on a survey finding almost nobody trusts our City Council! It should be no wonder! Our current election process sets them up to fail..

To solve it, Sacramento should do what dozens of other cities have already done... Adopt to:

✅️ Improve voter engagement & participation,

✅️ Empower candidates to champion broadly popular agendas, and

✅️ Give everyone a voice, advancing equitable representation of the community!

That's why we support for Sacramento elections!

A recent city-funded public opinion survey found low favorability for Sacramento government, a finding left out of the official summary.

The Sacramento Bee recently reported on a survey finding hardly anyone trusts our City Council ☹️(link in comments).

It's hard to govern. Politicians sometimes need to make tough calls.

But it doesn't help that Sac's local politicians are making tough decisions ‼️for people who have never seen their name on a ballot‼️ 😬

And how can City Council claim to know the public's interest, when most of the public never got a say in who represents them?🤔

Sacramento can improve voter engagement & participation by allowing candidates to run in the Fall election, where nearly twice as many people vote! 😃

Sac can allow Fall elections for City Council by adopting ‼️ a simple upgrade that allows voters to rank candidates by preference.

Evidence from 800+ elections in other communities using shows this simple upgrade also reduces negativity & focuses campaign conversations on the issues people care about!

Most people don't know who their elected City Council person is because Sac's current elections process is exclusionary. But our sign-up page provides all the info you'll need!

We're asking City Council to put a measure on the ballot allowing voters to CHOOSE whether to adopt !

Most Councilmembers have already endorsed adopting RCV... All we need now is for them to step up and DO something about it!
