The American River Parkway Multi-Use Trail is currently closed at mile marker 3 (near Del Paso Blvd) due to a fire. Detour signs are in place.

Sacramento County wants to hear from you about the future of Sacramento Northern Trail, Dry Creek Parkway and Gibson Ranch.

Our Park Rangers are seeking information regarding the Ancil Hoffman Park vandalism incident that occurred at some point after the park closed on September 19 and before 5 a.m. on September 20. Residents of the Carmichael Colony neighborhood and surrounding communities are encouraged to review any available home surveillance footage that may assist in this investigation.

Heads up: Items 1 and 2, both of which relate to the Off-Trail Cycling Subcommittee, will be dropped from the September 24, 2026, Recreation and Park Commission meeting.

This will be formally announced at the start of Thursday's meeting.

UPDATE: Ancil Hoffman Park, including the Golf Course and Effie Yeaw Nature Center, is now open.

Ancil Hoffman Park is currently closed following a major vandalism event. At least ten light poles and several street signs were knocked over in the park, and at least one restroom was destroyed, with sinks and barriers ripped off the walls.

The park is currently closed until further notice while we assess the damage and ensure there are no live wires.

We'll keep this post updated as things change.
