What an incredible day at the 52nd Annual Guns & Hoses Game at Cal Expo!
The Dogs came out on top against the Hogs with a tough
3–0 win, capped off with a brutal dog pile right on the goal line!
The Law Enforcement Chaplaincy is honored to come alongside the Pig Bowl Board of Directors in supporting their continued efforts to raise funds for some truly amazing local nonprofits. Every year, this event reminds us how strong our community is when we come together for a cause bigger than ourselves.
We’re deeply grateful for our partnerships across all our law enforcement agencies, and especially thankful for the steadfast support of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, our Sheriff Jim Cooper, Sacramento Police Department and our Chief Kathy Lester 💙
Here’s to 52 years of teamwork, friendly rivalry, and giving back to the community we proudly serve. Until next year boys! 🙌🐾🐖

Please join us in praying for the family and our friends at Elk Grove Police Department as we remember Officer Ty Lenehan and the many years of service he devoted to our nation and community on the anniversary of his end of watch.
It’s hard to believe it’s been four years since we think of you every single day, Ty.
On the morning of January 21, 2022, Officer Tyler “Ty” Lenehan was on duty riding his police motorcycle on southbound Highway 99, in Sacramento. An intoxicated driver, with a DUI record, was traveling in the wrong direction, on a divided section of the highway and struck Ty head on. The driver was taken into custody. Despite lifesaving efforts by emergency responders at the scene and staff at the University of California, Davis Medical Center, Ty succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Before becoming a Police Officer, Ty served in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Structural Maintenance Journeyman and worked side-by-side with his father as an electrician. He began working towards a career in law enforcement in 2012 attending the Sacramento Regional Public Safety Training Center (SRPSTC), American River College (ARC) Academy. That same year, Ty became a Reserve Police Officer with the Citrus Heights Police Department. In 2014, he was hired as a Police Officer by the Galt Police Department and transitioned into becoming a Motor Officer. Ty joined the Elk Grove Police Department in 2016 and again followed his passion to be a Motor Officer.
Ty will forever be missed but never forgotten.

🕊️ Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 🕊️
Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a servant leader whose faith, courage, and commitment to justice continue to guide our work and our calling. Dr. King reminded us that “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” and that each of us has a responsibility to stand with the vulnerable, speak truth with love, and pursue peace through service.
As chaplains, first responders, and community servants, we see firsthand the cost of injustice, pain, and division, but we also witness hope, resilience, and healing. Dr. King’s life and words challenge us to continue showing up with compassion, integrity, and moral courage, especially in moments that are uncomfortable or difficult.
One of Dr. King’s most impactful writings, Letter from Birmingham Jail, speaks powerfully to the responsibility of people of conscience to act, not out of anger, but out of love and a deep commitment to justice.
We encourage you to take time today to read and reflect:https://www.csuchico.edu/iege/_assets/documents/susi-letter-from-birmingham-jail.pdf
May we honor Dr. King’s legacy not only in remembrance, but through action, by caring for those in crisis, supporting those who serve, and building bridges of understanding within our communities.

We pray for Deputy Adam Gibson’s family and friends this week. May the difference he made in the lives of others never be forgotten.
IN MEMORIAM: Adam Gibson - End of Watch: January 18, 2021
At 10:07 p.m. on January 18, 2021, Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies observed a vehicle in a parking lot that matched the description of a vehicle involved in a theft series. Deputies initiated contact with the single occupant of the vehicle who became uncooperative and fled in his vehicle. A pursuit ensued with multiple officers joining, including Sheriff’s Canine Detail Deputy Adam Gibson, in an attempt to stop the suspect. The pursuit entered the Cal Expo Complex and the suspect’s vehicle became disabled after driving over a concrete parking block and hitting a fence.
Deputies gave several commands for the suspect to exit the vehicle but he refused. A sheriff’s canine was deployed into the vehicle who engaged the suspect. The suspect fired a gun at deputies, striking two and the canine as they began to take him into custody. Deputies returned fire, fatally wounding the suspect.
Deputy Adam Gibson was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The second deputy was stabilized and transported to a trauma center for further treatment. Sheriff’s K-9 Riley was pronounced deceased at the scene.
