Happy New Year, AmeriFriends, Family, & Lurkers.

Martin Luther King Day is just a week away. It's the perfect opportunity to throw some good out into 2018. Check out VolunteerMatch.org or your local PointsOfLight.org affiliate for ways to volunteer in your community.

And now, a joke.

Why can't you give Elsa a balloon?

If you are thinking about joining AmeriCorps, I hope you are ready not to only gain experience but to gain a family.
All of these photos were taken over the last few years, after our term ended. They include not only people from Blue 1, but pictures of other volunteers in our Corps. Also it includes AmeriCorps members who served at a different times and in different programs that I just have met along the way. AmeriCorps helps you make connections and thrive in a way that I didn't even know was possible. So if you thinking about joining, DO IT! I know it was the best decision I ever made in my life.

We wish you a 2017 full of love and cheesy jokes and jelly fish high fives. Although we've been spread across the country since graduation, we've remained close and continue to get things done for America. Nikki works with foster kids as a CASA in San Diego and Laura is the tazmanian devil of impact, bettering Arizona in positions with the Natural History Museum and the community engagement department with the city of Mesa.

We hope to give more detailed updates for anyone interested soon.

Cheers, Blue 1

This is Rae and I am proud to say November 11 I will be reminiscing back to the good old days at Extended Stay America.I currently work for a company conducting a study with the Department of Health and Human Services. I get to travel around doing exciting research. I'm glad I could book a hotel in Omaha that is close to my heart. I'm excited to grab some granola bars for breakfast and work snacks. I might get some P.T at the gym. I love you all Blue 1 alums.

FEMA Blue One Alumna Update:

Meanwhile, back in the frozen tundra of Minnesota, Taylor is pursuing her dream of becoming an entrepreneur! Her family started up their own real estate solutions company called Journey Home, LLC.

Essentially, she is revitalizing distressed neighbors by purchasing a home with cash, overseeing the renovation, and selling the home. Taylor's goal in the future is to use this business as a vehicle to give back. She wants to do at least one pro bono renovation a year for a family that needs it.

If you're interested, you can check out a little more on what they do by visiting their page or even shoot Tay a message.

I hope all is well and love you all!
