On May 13, 2026, the Sacramento County Probation Department organized a job fair for individuals on probation, which provided attendees with useful job and career information. Labor Finders, Cosumnes River College, Caltrans, Union Pacific Railroad, Sacramento County Personnel Services, BMO Banking, the Employment Development Department (EDD), and the California Department of Industrial Relations were among the local companies, educational institutions, and government organizations whose representatives were present and actively recruiting.
Our Employment Specialist also helped participants prepare their resumes before the event so they would feel ready and confident when they met with employers. We are pleased to report that over 100 people attended the event and interacted with resource partners and possible employers.
These kinds of events promote chances for professional development, stability, and a smooth transition back into the community.

Honor Guard Honors Veterans on Memorial Day
This Memorial Day, members of our department's Honor Guard proudly stood alongside the Citrus Heights Police Department Honor Guard to pay tribute to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.
Our Honor Guard plays an important role in preserving tradition, honoring service, and representing our department at ceremonies that bring our community together in remembrance and gratitude.
One of the most memorable moments of the day came after the ceremony when a 93-year-old Korean War veteran enthusiastically made his way over to meet the Honor Guard for a photo.
We are honored to carry on the tradition of remembering our fallen heroes and honoring all who have worn the uniform.

May is National Foster Care Month
This month highlights the importance of stability, positive relationships, and early intervention for youth who may have experienced trauma, neglect, or family disruption.
The Sacramento County Probation Department’s Placement Unit plays a vital role in promoting accountability while supporting rehabilitation, family engagement, and connections to resources that help youth succeed.
Currently, 41.7% of youth supervised by Sacramento County Probation are placed with a resource family or kin, underscoring the importance of safe, supportive, and stable home environments.
Placing youth with relatives or trusted adults helps them remain connected to their family, culture, and community during challenging times. These placements can provide a greater sense of comfort, belonging, and emotional stability while reducing the trauma associated with separation.
The Sacramento County Probation Department is currently seeking compassionate resource families (formerly known as foster families) to care for youth served by Probation.
Officers assigned to our Placement Unit provide case management, resources, and ongoing support throughout the approval and placement process.
