Watsonville Community Hospital is one of four distressed hospitals receiving AB 108 funding. This investment is essential to keep hospital doors open — but it's temporary. H.R. 1 will put even greater strain on California hospitals which remain at risk without state partnership. https://lookout.co/watsonville-community-hospital-will-receive-10-6-million-state-grant-to-help-weather-financial-challenges/story

Another impactful day at the 2026 CSAC Legislative Conference.

Attendees participated in caucus meetings and the interactive “Balancing Act” workshop focused on California’s state budget process and fiscal outlook.

The day’s General Session featured an important conversation on physical and psychological safety amongst elected officials with county supervisors Rich Desmond, Jessica Pyska, and Chris Lopez, alongside Lt. Nate Grgich of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. Attendees also heard remarks from California Secretary of State Dr. Shirley N.
