32 years. 47 years. That’s how long Carolyn and Ana have called Altadena home.
The Eaton Fire took their houses. It didn’t take their community.
Today we cut the ribbon on two new ADUs funded in large part by the LA County Legislative Delegation - and welcomed them back to their block.
Let’s keep rebuilding!

Happy Echo Park Pride! 🏳️‍🌈
This weekend, I celebrated with this beautiful community at Echo Park Pride - a gathering rooted in history, joy, and solidarity. Pride honors the generations of LGBTQ+ people who fought for dignity and the right to live openly and proudly. It’s also about creating real community and providing free testing, PrEP, mental health services, and resources.
At a time when LGBTQ+ communities face attacks across the country, this sends a clear message: our LGBTQ communities are here to stay. They belong. And we are all stronger together. Thank you to El Centro Del Pueblo and all our community partners.

This Memorial Day weekend, we honored the service members who gave their lives for our country. We remember their sacrifice and the families they left behind. May we build a nation worthy of their service.

I am proud to name Water Education for Latino Leaders (WELL) as Senate District 26’s 2026 Nonprofit of the Year! Since 2012, WELL has trained over 2,000 local elected officials - many of them Latinos and people of color - on California water policy. Through programs like the UnTapped Fellowship and Educate 2 Lead, WELL is building a diverse bench of water leaders ensuring equitable decision-making for all Californians. Congratulations to WELL and thank you for your critical work building a more just and sustainable water future!

Immigrant workers harvest our food, build our homes, and care for our families. They have always deserved dignity, a fair wage, and health care.
Because of H.R. 1, California’s hospitals are on the precipice, and the proposed state budget does not stop the loss of health care for immigrants. The Governor and the Legislature must do better.
That’s why I’m carrying Senate Bill 1422. It ends the Medi-Cal enrollment freeze. The bill is moving forward. The budget must move with it.
Si se puede.

Celebrating some furry friends today! 🐾 Every pet deserves a loving home, and every family deserves to know if their pet is welcome before paying rental application fees.
That’s why I authored SB 1296, which requires landlords to disclose pet policies before charging application fees. In 2024 alone, over 1,500 animals were surrendered to LA County shelters because of housing-related hardships.
Finding a home is hard enough. Pet owners shouldn’t have to pay just to find out their pet isn’t welcome.🐶🐈
