Working the SPEED grant, officers issued 31 citations to drivers pushing the limits, because safety isn’t optional.

Night flying isn’t just daytime flying in the dark—it’s a completely different environment.
Reduced visibility, fewer visual cues, and increased risk of spatial disorientation all make night operations more challenging. That’s why pilots maintain night currency—to ensure their skills stay sharp when conditions are at their toughest.
Add Night Vision Goggles (NVGs), and the challenge increases. Limited field of view, altered depth perception, and higher workload demand constant practice. NVG currency ensures pilots can safely and effectively operate with this critical equipment.
Staying current isn’t just about meeting requirements—it’s about safety, readiness, and protecting the communities we serve.
