CAL FIRE is the largest fire department in California, the second-largest fire department in the United States, and the largest local in the IAFF.

We proudly represent the dedicated men and women of CAL FIRE. In the middle of the 1960s a group of California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection firefighters from throughout the state met in a hotel room in Sacramento, California. All U.S. fire fighters, with or without cancer, active, former, or retired, can join.
