This week, Governor Brown signed - a priority bill - into law. It will help protect computer users by clarifying that infecting computers with ransomware is a form of extortion and punishable as such.

Bob Hertzberg, D-Van Nuys, to help protect computer users by clarifying that infecting computers with ransomware is a form of extortion and punishable as such.

The law establishes the California Earthquake Early Warning Program and Advisory Board within the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) to advance the implementation of the program and spur further investment in the early warning system.
