CalPrivacy-sponsored bill SB 923, the Expanding Privacy Rights Act, authored by Senator Josh Becker, has passed out of the CA Assembly Privacy Committee! It will next head to the CA Assembly Appropriations. The bill seeks to strengthen consumer privacy by expanding the CCPA’s right to delete and by making it easier to submit privacy requests, such as access, deletion, and correction requests.

Get ready: New resources for data brokers related to deletion request processing are now available at privacy.ca.gov/drop-for-data-brokers.

These materials are intended to support preparation for deletion request processing. Data brokers must access DROP and process deletion requests beginning August 1, 2026.

Good news: you only have to ask once! After you submit a deletion request, data brokers are required to delete your personal information and maintain that request indefinitely. No need to come back or repeat the process. You’re truly one and done!

This opportunity is ideal for Attorneys experienced in handling all phases of litigation — including discovery, trial, settlement, and appeals.
