A celebrity jury, an expansive selection of films and the only film festival held in a prison:

SQFF is gearing up for its 3rd annual festival inside San Quentin with a jury featuring Karen Pittman, Daveed Diggs, Piper Perabo and Boots Riley and several film selections! Held inside San Quentin Rehabilitation Center, the festival will highlight work from currently and formerly incarcerated filmmakers, international directors and the new Long Short submissions. Nearly 800 guests are expected, split between industry attendees and San Quentin residents, with screenings followed by panels with filmmakers and film subjects.

From prison to graduate school, MCRP student’s reentry hits milestone with winning design -- Since leaving prison in April 2025, Angel Paredes has found a part-time job, pursued an MBA at Cal Poly Pomona and won his first art contest. His hand-drawn design appeared on 7,000 shirts for incoming students, marking a personal milestone in his progress through California’s Male Community Reentry Program.

At San Quentin, CDCR Secretary Jeff Macomber joined SkunkWorks and community volunteers to help paint a mural, saying he was glad to help create something lasting. The mural is tied to street artist eL Seed, which expresses his signature style of community. The mural is one of many projects reflecting the creative and collaborative work now shaping the prison’s culture.

Centinela’s dodgeball classic raises over $11,000 for officer battling illness - More than $11,000 was raised as 10 teams ducked, dipped, dived and dodged in their first-ever dodgeball tournament fundraiser.
