💧 Who Owns What? Understanding Your Water Service Line 💧
Have you ever wondered where the utility’s responsibility ends and the homeowner’s begins?
In Safety Harbor, the City owns and maintains the water main, service line up to the meter, and the water meter itself. The homeowner is responsible for everything beyond the meter, including the service line leading to the home and all internal plumbing.
Knowing who owns each part of the system can help you quickly identify who to contact if you experience a leak or water service issue. If you notice a problem near your meter, it's important to determine whether it's on the utility side or the homeowner side of the connection.
Understanding your water infrastructure helps protect your property, conserve water, and keep our community's water system running efficiently. 💙🚰

Think you have a leak? Call Public Works at 727-724-1550 and we will check the City side for a leak.

A simple call can help locate underground utility lines such as water, sewer, gas, electric, and communications infrastructure, preventing costly damage, service interruptions, and potential injuries.
Protect yourself, your neighbors, and the critical infrastructure that keeps Safety Harbor running. Call 811 before you dig. It's free, it's easy, and it's the law.

Protect Our Waterways: Only Rain Down the Drain! 🌧️💧

Storm drains flow directly to local waterways, often without treatment. Paint, oil, chemicals, concrete residue, soap and dirty wash water do not belong in streets, gutters or storm drains.

Contractors: Never wash out concrete trucks, paint tools, pressure-washing equipment or machinery where runoff can reach a storm drain. Contain and properly dispose of all wash water.

Pinellas County residents can take household hazardous chemicals to the Household Hazardous Waste Center, 2855 109th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, or HHW North, 29582 U.S. 19 N., Clearwater, on select days. Check schedules and accepted items before visiting.

Report suspected illicit discharges: (727)-724-1550 or [email protected].

🚗 Smart Parking Keeps Safety Harbor Safe
Help make Safety Harbor safe, accessible, and inviting for everyone by keeping these important parking practices in mind:
• ✅ Keep intersections open and never block driveways
• ✅ Leave at least 15 feet between your vehicle and a fire hydrant
• ✅ Keep crosswalks clear and do not park within 20 feet of them
• ✅ Maintain 30 feet of clearance from stop signs, yield signs, and traffic signals
• ✅ Make sure sidewalks and mailboxes are not blocked
• ✅ Park no more than 12 inches from the curb
These simple habits help protect motorists, pedestrians, emergency responders, and everyone in the neighborhood.

Have an EV? EV Chargers are located in the public parking lot west of City Hall and at the Library. Vehicles must be charging while parked in these spaces.

Together, we can keep our streets safe, accessible, and easy for everyone to navigate! 💙

🍰 Happy National Dessert Day! While making your favorite treats, remember: never pour fats, oils, or grease down the drain—they can harden and clog pipes. Let them cool, pour them into a sealed container for the trash, and wipe greasy pans before washing. Sweet choices help protect our pipes and waterways!

🚦 It Starts With Us – Traffic Safety 🚦

Keeping our roads safe is a shared responsibility. Please help protect everyone in our community by remembering:

✅ The speed limit on most City roadways is 25 MPH — slow down.
✅ Yield to pedestrians in marked and unmarked crosswalks.
✅ Bicycles are vehicles and must follow all traffic laws.
✅ Roadways are for vehicles — pedestrians are safest off the road when sidewalks are available, please utilize your yard or a park for recreational activities.

A little patience and awareness go a long way. Let’s look out for one another and keep Safety Harbor streets safe for everyone! 🚗🚶‍♀️🚲 See less

Turn Around, Don’t Drown! 🌧️🚗
While we are not in the direct path of Hurricane Isaias, we will experience some wind and rain. Never drive through a flooded street. Water may be deeper or moving faster than it appears, and the road beneath could be damaged or washed away. Just 12 inches of moving water can carry away a small vehicle.

Watch for downed power lines near flooded areas. Always assume they are energized, keep your distance, and never drive over or touch them. Choose another route, follow posted closures, and stay safe.

🚨 Florida’s Move Over Law – Keep Our Roadside Heroes Safe! 🚨

When you see stopped emergency or service vehicles on the roadside, MOVE OVER! It’s the law and it saves lives.

✅ Move over a lane for law enforcement, emergency, sanitation, utility service vehicles, and tow trucks.

✅ If you can’t move over, slow down to 20 mph less than the posted speed limit.

✅ If the posted speed limit is 20 mph or less, slow down to 5 mph.

Let’s protect those who protect us.

Spooky, Scary Skeletons are all fun and games for humans, but faux spider webbing in your yard can be dangerous for wildlife—especially birds. The thin, stretchy fibers can trap wings, feet, and feathers, making it hard for birds, bats, butterflies, and other small animals to escape. This Halloween season, consider skipping outdoor webbing or using safer decorations like pumpkins, lights, signs, or reusable displays. A wildlife-friendly yard can still be festive! 🎃🕸️🐦
