VIKING ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (WEEK of OCTOBER 5TH)...

Swan Valley Athletics is honoring 2 Middle School Viking Athletes of the Week from last week. Congratulations to Lexi VanNortwick and Sophia Williamson (7th Grade Girls Basketball) for earning this prestigious award!

Here is what their coach had to say about them fulfilling one or more of the Viking Athletic Core Values:

"Lexi has really grown this year within her point guard role. She has worked on improving seeing the floor in transition and while under pressure. She leads the team averaging 6 assists a game and has been a great overall floor general! Keep up the great work Lexi!"

"Sophia is in her first year or organized hoops essentially and has made tremendous growth. She has really grown within her defense, boxing out, and layup completion. She is a natural defender coming from soccer and it is great to see it translate to the hardwood. Keep up the great work Sophia!"

Our Medical Detectives students got hands-on with neuroscience by dissecting a sheep’s brain! Students explored the brain’s structures and learned how different parts work together to control the body. What an amazing opportunity to bring science to life!

🏀🔥 VIKINGS ARE STILL UNDEFEATED! 🔥🏀 The Swan Valley 7th Grade Girls Basketball team is officially 8-0 after a HUGE win over Garber by 50 and beating Jefferson today!😤💪 Leading the way against Garber: 🏀 Ainsley Ball — 15 PTS 🎯 🏀 Aria Miller — 8 PTS 🔥 🏀 Lexi Vannortick — 8 AST 🤝💰 Dropping dimes like it’s her side hustle! But the Vikings weren’t done cooking… 👀 🔥 🥞 Big thanks to the parents that cooked up some pancakes with extra whip cream for team dinner earlier in the week 🥞 TODAY, WE HIT THE ROAD! 🚐💨 The Vikings loaded up the school van and headed to Jefferson to take on the Huskies — and came home with another W, 49-24! 🐺❌ 🔥 Kenzie Christopher came out SCORCHING and finished with 21 POINTS! She was absolutely cooking! 🍳🏀 🎯 Lexi Vannortick & Karsyn Townsend were serving up assists all game long — the Vikings were passing out dimes like they were handing out free samples! 💰😂 And defensively… 🧱🔒 The WHOLE team was locked in! Sophia Williamson led the defensive charge, and the Vikings made sure the Huskies had nowhere to sled! 🐺🥶 After going 2-0 on the road, the Vikings had earned themselves a little celebration… 🍦👀 DAIRY QUEEN TIME! 👑🍦 Because when you’re 8-0, you deserve to treat yourself to a little victory swirl! 😂 The Vikes are back in action against Frankenmuth tomorrow at home at 4:30! 😎

Service with a Smile!

Members of our SVMS XC team hit the trails Friday, but this time with rakes and work gloves instead of their running shoes. The team improved and cleared trails and gathered trash in our SV Forest - enhancing the trails with a new route! Way to represent SV and be good stewards of the trails!

Our Cross Country team competed at Birch Run yesterday on a rainy and muddy course.

The boys team earned their first trophy of the season, finishing 2nd overall. Five boys earned medals for finishing in the Top 25: Sergio Medina, Everett Jennings, Landen Roenicke, Easton Dupuis, and Logan Mersdorf.

The ladies team ran their strongest team race of the season. Mara Whelton led the way with a 4th place finish overall. Alaina O'Brien, Ava Rodriguez, and Natalie Hoffman finished with Top 25 medals and new PRs.

Despite the conditions, 15 runners ran their fastest times of the season Landen Roenicke, Logan Mersdorf, Caz Cut, Logan Venema, Jonathan Duron, Alaina O'Brien, Ava Rodriguez, Natalie Hoffman, Alessandra Oldham, Nora Stephens, Evalynn Cole, Annabella Brothers, Mikella Gilbert, Taylor Geyer, and Emmalyne McGuire.
