Note: When photos are submitted in portrait orientation rather than landscape orientation, we use photo-editing software to extend the sides of the image so it fits the Facebook cover photo format.

There’s something incredible about watching a storm roll across Bear Lake. The dark clouds, flashes of lightning, and reflections across the water can make for a pretty spectacular show.

But scenes like this are also a good reminder that beauty and danger can arrive together.

Weather around the lake can change quickly, and lightning doesn’t have to be directly overhead to pose a serious threat. When thunder starts rolling and the sky begins to light up, it’s time to get off the water and find a safe place to wait it out.

Enjoy the show—but respect the storm. Bear Lake will still be here when it passes.
