π§οΈ **WASHINGTON COUNTY WEATHER ALERT β FLASH FLOODING POTENTIAL**
**Monday, October 12 & Tuesday, October 13, 2026**
The National Weather Service is forecasting continued rainfall and the potential for flash flooding across Southern Utah, including Washington County, today and into Tuesday.
Although rainfall intensity is expected to decrease, **already saturated ground means flooding can develop quickly, even with less rainfall.**
β οΈ **Areas of Concern:**
- Normally dry washes, low-water crossings, and flood-prone roadways.
- Slot canyons, slickrock areas, and steep terrain.
- Recent wildfire burn scars, where flooding and debris flows can develop rapidly.
- Urban areas with poor drainage.
π **NEVER DRIVE THROUGH FLOODWATERS!**
Do not attempt to cross flooded roads, washes, or low-water crossings. Water may be deeper or moving faster than it appears, and road surfaces may be washed away. **Turn Around, Don't Drown!**
π **PREPARE YOUR FAMILY NOW:**
β
**Have a family reunification plan.** Establish meeting locations and an out-of-area contact in case family members become separated or communications are disrupted.
β
**Prepare a go kit.** Include medications, water, food, flashlights, batteries, important documents, and essential supplies for family members and pets.
β
**Be ready to shelter at home.** Have enough supplies for several days, including drinking water, nonperishable food, battery-powered lighting, and backup power for essential medical equipment in case electricity is interrupted.
β
**Stay informed.** Monitor weather forecasts, road conditions, and emergency notifications. Avoid unnecessary travel into flood-prone areas.
β
**Check on your neighbors.** Especially those who may need additional assistance during an emergency.
